In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well, Shoot!...

I did it. I brought the Grey Treefrog inside, much against my better judgement, but he was sitting in a ball in the middle of my deck freezing his little froggy butt off when I went to let the dog out this evening.

I know that in the wild they hibernate under tree bark, so I put a few pieces of stacked cork bark in the enclosure and a lot of greenery so he has lots of places to choose from.

My big problem is, I'm going to be getting food for everyone tomorrow so I thought I'd feed him since he's been pigging out under the light...or should I wait until he's "empty" to brumate him? He voided all over my hand when he got warm (I cupped him for a few as I wasn't sure he was alive at first) so he's "empty" now.

I've never brumated a frog before. I have an idea, but never tried this with an animal not acclimated to captivity. Any ideas would be wonderful!

If you're taking it in why brumate it? It is now a WC exotic pet and unless you are going to breed them there is no need for a cooling period.

Thanks for the reply, John. I have decided to just let him become a pet, so he won't be brumated.

If I were to return him to the outdoors, perhaps I'd chance it, but he seems to be settling in quite nicely.

He's a weird little frog! I think he has more fun watching us than we do watching him!

I wish we had tree frogs in abundance out here but all we have are Hyla arenicolor and they are a very rare find or I would have a pet Tree Frog also.
I only found 3 this years herping the Canyon lands.

I didn't really want a pet treefrog, but the little monkey was still out on our porch long after the rest of his buddies had all cuddled up to sleep the long winter.

I've been watching them all spring and summer come out to feed at night under the lights. This year is the first in a few years where we had frogs coming to the lights in more than twos or threes. I never messed with them. He just kept hanging around and it was very cold that night. If I didn't believe he would have died had I not, I wouldn't have brought him inside.

He must have seen me come home with loads of crickets or something and figured he found a sweet gig! :D

maybe we all should sit on her deck and look to about freeze. then we can get a warm cozy area of the house to sleep in and get free food lmao. i would do the same but i havent seen a frog in my area of ohio since i moved here 3 years ago from north carolina.
