In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Wesballpython (Wes Head)

they made a deal and was supposed to ship the very next day. She then told another buyer that the deal had been made and thus she lost THAT sale. Wes and his brother (sorry... dont remember the name) then backs out of the deal later that night.

So now she has lost TWO sales on that snake due to them backing out.

Actually, he didn't even bother to tell her that he changed his mind until the next day when she asked for the tracking number for the shipment. That's when he finally thought it might be a good idea to tell her that he changed his mind.
I could see where if he backed out the same night, only hours later, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But he waited until the next day when it was shipping time. That's the main reason I find it a bit more of an issue. No common courtesy or regard what so ever to how this would be affecting her or her sales.

So, the lesson here is what...? Don't sell to a minor. Do not consider a snake SOLD until you have received a nonrefundable deposit. We all learn these lessons, some just pay more for the education than others. Be happy your lesson did not REALLY cost you anything but a lost sale.

I will say, I am pretty sure Wes is the guy who bought my Albino male Ball. He paid like he said he would, and I shipped like I said I would. Knowing that he is a minor, I would say sell to his brother if he is 18...

Except for the fact that this wasn't a sale, it was a trade, so there was no money to be received from him to consider it a done deal. The deal was sealed when he said he'd ship out the next morning, as would the OP, and then after being asked a few times for the tracking number he finally told the OP he had changed his mind and wouldn't be shipping out his end of the trade after all.
The OP is just especially lucky that she hadn't already shipped out her end of the trade otherwise this very easily could have been posted as a bad guy thread instead.

But i know wes he wont knowingly keep a reptile like that he would done what ever it took to get said reptile back to the rightful owner.

I'm not an expert, and I am by now means trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, or take sides. There are points on both sides. Yes, Wes agreed to the trade. That point cannot be contested. But, it seems like he was strong armed a little bit.

Alanna, I do not understand why you can raise the value of your Aru because it is being traded, not sold for cash but then turn around and keep his at resale value. I understand, trading isn't the same. But, if you can say your Aru is worth $250 more in trade, why isn't the Bee or Blood worth more in a trade? (Please, do not take this as a personal attack. I am honestly curious, because I have limited experience in the business end.)

Sale, trade, does it really matter if he is a minor? Nope. If he is a minor, he is not legally bound to any contract as I understand it. If you do business with a minor, the outcome is on you. Like I said, sell to his brother if he is over 18. NO money or animals exchanged hands, be glad you did not lose anything, animals or money, and move on. People change their minds, get a deposit. If it is a trade, and you cannot get a deposit, you are taking a risk.

jessica m, if wes is all that (post #89) why did he not stand up to his word and complete the deal he agreed to make?
Michael F, look at the ads all over this, and other websites, it is VERY common to list cash prices and trade values that are very different.
Kelli H, do you regularly loose sales of this amount and write them off.......a GTP is much different than losing a colubrid sale........

Understood, but if I am the seller and have reptile x to trade. Sale price $500, trade value $1000 than does the person trying to make a trade with me have to come up with $1000 worth of animals, as opposed to the $500? If that were the case, people could get into the reptile flipping business. Trade for twice the value, and then sell. You could go from a $500 sale to two different $500 sales because of the trade. I feel like in a trade market value can be the only indicator of a fair trade, unless both sides stand to gain from the trade in their own breeding projects.

I sympathize with Alanna. She said she had a buyer on the line, and there is no reason to think that she just said that to entice a deal to be made. Did she lose out on a sale? Yes, probably. But like Dave said, she still has the animal to sell, and isn't out any money. So you learned a valuable lesson, and you learned so without really suffering a loss.

This thread, while instigating some arguments, I don't think deters anybody from dealing with Wes or Caleb. I wouldn't be hesistant anyways. Not from this encounter. I'm only 20, and I can remember the days when I was 14 or 15 and excited to get a new animal. If you dig some things up on this forum, I had a deal go very poorly because of my excitement. It was with a great dealer, MotherGecko (Michael ___) his last name is elusive today. So, in time Wes will turn into a very responsible adult, and will be somebody easy to deal with, as I hope I have turned into with my transition from being a young teenager into adulthood.

it is my own personal opinion that the reason for the higher trade value is the seller may not be looking for any additional animals and prefers cash. if someone has no cash or partial cash/trade offer, the seller accepts the deal (could be his best offer) to move the snake and recoup the cash with the acquired animals.
i did not consider the "flipping" aspect which is a valid point. unfortunately those people will always be with us.

well that sound like wes he got the blacke blood female from me with a pair of hypos boas yearlings in which he was to send a low white pied. but he send me a ringer but in his defense he did try to make good but i wasnt happy with what he ofter and ask for for my snakes he stop answering his phone and and told me by text his brother will contact me so i guess watch for those fast talking kids lol

Yes this is a minor kerfluffle in the grand scheme of things, but I think it's an important info thread. What if someone in the future wants to make a similar deal, hold an animal for them until they are ready to ship? Cancel other offers? Good to know who will stick to their word and who will pull out and say "it's not a done deal till stuff has changed hands!" In my mind, when money or goods have changed hands, it's only "done" because it's a lot harder to take it back :p

Sounds like both brothers made promises they backed out on (sorry Caleb, but you did say you'd force your bro to finish the deal then came up with a pile of excuses when called on it). Caleb also claims he has "proof" Alanna was a bully and threw her "BOI rep" around, and yet has provided none? Starts to sound a little like defamation to me...

Yes I think Alanna should have dealt only with Caleb, since she knew Wes was a minor. She also admits to this. Lesson learned? But I also think Caleb should keep his brother out of the sale/trade part of the business until he's more mature, and not defend this bad behavior. If you don't want the deal, fine, don't force it, but don't say you will force it then come up with excuses. Don't say your bro was wrong but really it's all Allana's fault.

TL;DR - Like personal checks, either your word is good for something or it isn't. It's useful to know whose is and whose isn't :p
