    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Western Fence Lizard has tiny bugs

I have a western fence lizard and noticed small dot like black bug crawling on him. Cleaned out his aquarium changed everything inside, but noticed a bug again. What are they? What can I do?
 
Try googling for mite pictures and see if that's what you have.

If you do wash everything in original dawn, take out all unnecessary items, use paper towels for bedding and invest in provent a mite. It's a bit pricey for some but it's designed for the safe usage with herps.

I use it as a preventative measure.
 
Don't use Provent A Mite on the animal!

If you can't do the Nix treatment, get some Reptile Relief to kill the bugs on the lizard. You'll have to use it again in a week as it does not kill eggs.
 
No, it's for the enclosure!!!! NOT in the water bowl either!

And you let it air out and dry before putting the critter back in!

Read and follow the ALL directions!!
 
Provent a mite can be dangerous for lizards even when you follow the instructions to the letter. I didn't lose any lizards when I had a mite infestation, but the lizards that were in treated vivs got depressed and stopped eating after about three weeks, and my uro developed bright green snalt. A week after I removed the treated bedding they all went back to normal, including the uro's snalt. Be really careful and watch your lizard carefully if you use it.
 
I've never had a problem with it. I also never used it on substrate though, only the enclosure itself. Just use paper towels for bedding until it's cleared up. They can easily be changed daily and don't give the mites a place to bred/hide.

There's also the predatory mite route but I've personally never tried it.
