    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Whaddup all, being new to the python world, having only bought my first male in novmber, i have a few questions ive been wondering. When someone says a snake is "50% _____ het" what does that mean? And when giving the sex and number of snakes in a "#.#" which one is male and female? Thanks for all help.

Male.Female.Unsexed

the 50% 66% 100% and so forth are numbers used to tell someone how much of a chance that animal has of being "het" for a certain trait.

100% means you have a 100% chance of having an animal that is het. when bred to another 100% het or visual morph you have the chance of producing animals that carry that trait.

66% het is a sixy six percent chance of being a het. so its either "het" or Normal. you have to breed it to another het, or visual to prove it out.
Same goes for 50% "hets".

Ahhhh thanks but what does "het" mean as well? Or does that just refer to the morph in question? I thought it was an abbreviated form of hereditary or something.

It means they have( 100% hets) or MIGHT ( Possible Hets 66% 50% and such) have the genetics for a specific trait. IE: albino, ghost, axanthic and such. it applies to recessive traits. ( hidden, cant see, have to breed to prove out)

Im not much good at explaining genetics... so my explanation is REAL basic. :thumbsup:

Thanks. Also im wanting to get into breeding ball pythons and im also begining to breed my own mice. My current male is about 290g is that normal for a 5-6 month old male? if you no longer see a bump in the snake from the mouse, you can up the prey items to two smaller mice. a general rule many people tend to follow is not feeding anything that is larger than the snake is around, slightly larger wont do too much harm, you just have to be cautious :)

That is one HUGE mouse. I would totally scale back on what you're feeding it. Also, I don't think that healthy mice should eat other mice. If you're thinking about giving him two mice because he goes through the first one so fast, I think that you should really look at your conditions first. Good luck finding a 290g female to breed him with.

(heh)

As far as I have researched, it is better to feed a bigger meal than to feed twice. Maybe it is time to move to rats, or for me to get better advice, one or t'other.

Welcome!!
