    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey guys,

We got this girl a few months ago and she was sold to us as a firefly... We've heard so many different things about what she could be that now we are second guessing whatever she may be. Please give us your input and hopefully we can come to a conclusion !

Your picture in the auction thread makes it look like she has desert in her. :shrug01:

Did you purchase her from a reputable breeder? Would suck to have paid firefly price for an animal only worth pet pricing.
 
We bought her from at least what I thought was a reputable breeder. He was very popular on here and we heard alot of good reviews about him.... When we purchased her he sent us pictures of the dad(fire) and mom (pastel) so I thought it was legit but now I don't know
 
She definetly doesn't look like a firefly to me. It doesn't even look like she has pastel in her, Her head doesn't look blushed out enough. She looks like a desert to me but definetly not a firefly.

Yes, he had showed us photos when we first inquired and then when we got her he showed us the parents as well, I'm just concerned because everyone is saying that she isn't a firefly and I just want to make sure I didn't get scammed you know? Female deserts are infertile correct? Therefore I would not be able to use her in any breedings..... I contacted the breeder I'm just waiting for a response

I understand your intent...but, this is not the way to come to any kind of "conclusion" about genetics - especially if you plan on selling the animal. My suggestion would be to request paperwork indicating the genetics of the snake, and send them along with the snake. Of course, in the event she doesn't prove to be a firefly - if the breeder isn't around, or won't honor his/her guarantee - it will still fall on your shoulders to make things right with your buyer.
 
Looks like it has Leopard in it... Whatever it is, I'd take it over your average Firefly any day.
 
I have been working with these for 3 years now and am currently line breeding to see if the is a super. I only know of one other breeder working with the same stock. This is a gene that hitch hiked in on a desert male I purchased from Pro Exotics. It originated there and some of their desert stock contained this gene.

There are many more of these out there I'm sure. I also believe this contains desert and what I have called jungle for now, it may contain a third gene. It does some crazy stuff in combo.

I would like to see the pictures of the parents who produced it. All of my balls with this look so far have desert in them. I have isolated the gene away from the desert to continue working on it and have not produced the same look without desert yet. The breeder may not be aware of what he has and may not have knowingly sold it to you with desert in it.
