    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

:) Just wondering whether the majority of this community is here for the Classifieds, the Forums, or both.
 
I originally came here, because I was scammed. Did a search on the guy via google, and found a bad guy boi thread here.

Over time, it became more about the people I met on here.

So.. I am here for the info, and the sales.. but mostly for the people!!!
 
Actually I've been wondering the same thing, but my thoughts are more in line with how many are here solely because of the BOI.

Not solely; I enjoy some of the forums and I like a lot of the people. But to me, the BOI gives character and makes this a useful business board distinct from one of the many reptile discussion boards.

I do visit a very small number of other reptile boards from time to time. When I see a business discussion in progress I often refer the posters over here.

I understand sometimes life takes us all on different paths, but it will be a sad day indeed if the BOI is ever shuttered, or worse yet, the helm changed and guided by some meek eunuch purchaser who does not understand what it means, and how hard it is, to allow people to share their experiences, good and bad.

Who would sway to public opinion like a reed in the wind, not knowing how hard it is, to be able to stand up to naysayers both buyers, sellers, and even members so that all of us may have a safer place to engage in reptile biz.

I originally came for the BOI. I now use the classifieds, but also like to help members in any way I can.
 
The poll needs to allow multiple choices. I originally came here surprisingly due to having friends who used the site, and informed me about the chatroom and over all site. I do look at the BOI on occasion, but more for entertainment then usefulness. What keeps me here is the chatroom and the forums. I regularly frequent the forums without even glancing at the BOI, although I do appreciate it being here when needed.
 
I'm just returning to the hobby after a 20 yr hiatus, and the features of the hobby itself are so different now with Fauna and KS.... it's a whole different world than herping back then... it's really something to be able to elicit responses to questions on a day to day basis, rather than waiting till the next monthly club meeting to get answers to questions.... the availability and diversity of animals is just overwhelming.... and the knowledge.... and the sharing by knowledgeable people... it's just incredible what this hobby has grown to since I first saw an anaconda in Langhammer's basement.... needless to say, I'm glad to be back.... Bean
 
I use the site mostly for asking dumb questions, as I do not have a local herp community, and I'm on a learning curve. I learn a LOT from reading other's shared experiences and stories, and that's the most valuable part of the site for me. (Plus I love the pics).
I read the BOI for entertainment, but the best thing is the lessons and experiences shared in the forums.
 
I started off using the BOI, but now I frequent the forums to broaden my knowledge and hopefully help others as much as I've been helped. Tried chat but soon found out I can't keep up...but it was fun trying!
