In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have always been partial to Ficus because they are inexpensive here and easy to maintain.

What are your favorite live plants for your cages?

You are right Wendy, they do mention bonsai in the description.

FICUS BENJAMINA 'TOO LITTLE'
Miniature Ficus, very good for containers, indoor and for bonsai.
Ficus 'Too Little' is a miniature form of a big Ficus benjamina very often used in South Florida.
It will grow to about 5feet if planted in the ground but it can be kept much smaller if potted and with a little trimming.
It makes an excellent bonsai subject.
Ficus will grow well anywhere from full sun to shade but be aware that drastic changes in growing conditions can cause them to drop leaves.
Ficus perform well with warm temperatures even though they will survive temperatures near freezing for short periods of time.
Ficus are very popular indoor plants all over the world and the variety 'Too Little' is an excellent option for people with small spaces.
FAMILY : Moraceae
ORIGIN: spur from regular Ficus
SIZE : up to 5feet
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS : full sun to shade
WATER REQUIREMENTS : average
MIN. TEMP. : low 30°
FLOWERS : no

I believe Dracaena Massangeana is called both the cane plant and the corn plant.

One problem with the cane/corn plants though...no way to stop them from outgrowing your enclosure over time. they get big!!!

Let me know, because with these if you break off a branch and plant it, it will grow another tree!!!! you never have to keep going out and buying more (I am referring to the ficus). Not sure about the corn/cane plants but they are cheap enough (7.99) to buy lots of them.

plants...

My favorite plants are bromeliads and tillandsias. They do really well in terrariums for R. brevicadautus (Stump tailed chameleons). Tillandsias are great because you can just stick them almost anywhere and they grow. I like bromeliads because not only do some species of frogs use them for breeding, but I have actually seen a couple of my chameleons drink from the water in them. A good place to find them is Tropiflora in Sarasota, Florida. www.tropiflora.com.

Well I have a good question I use ficus trees in my chameleon cages but I cant hardly keep them alive they leafs keep falling of just about right after i put them in there. what does every one do to keep their ficus alive?

Ive never had any problems with my ficus trees, except they outgrow the smalelr reptariums.

Mine are kept room temp at the bottom and the taller ones hit 80-90 at the tops of tghe taller ones, and they get lots of moisture from misting the chams.

If the leaves are falling off, it sounds like they are too dry.

Most ficus trees are pretty tolerate to being over or under watered but they do need to be misted daily.

They do get misted daily but i dont water the plant its self that often but I am getting one of those pro-mist (as soon as the ups guy gets to my house today) So the chams and plants will get misted more often. Maybe that will help keep the ficus alive.
