    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What Do you Think?

So this is my boy Brundon. He is a very nice calm Varanus albigularis. Ive read (Monitor lizards: natural history, biology & husbandry) and do know that there are 3 subspecies of albigularis. I also do understand that they do interbreed. When i first picked him up his throat was white but as time went on it changed to a black (I do use UVB btw which brightens his color). I do have a white throat and in comparison he does look very different in terms of pattern and color. But he also does not have the pattern or color of a black throat. Sooooo anyways my thoughts one of his parents was a white throat and one was a black throat and they made sweeeeet sweeeeeet monitor love to make my boy Brundon. Here are some pics of him. What do you think? P.S: i know he has a little bit of a belly i feed him mostly ground turkey and eggs but im gonna switch him to roaches to c if that helps him slim down.

I'm no expert with Monitors thus I have no opinion on what subspecies or subspecies mix he is...

From what I've seen, yours doesn't look obese at all...

How well does yours do on the leash? I have an adult Tegu that is just a huge sweety. Very docile, very handlable, free roams outdoors with ease... I have put him on a leash a few times. He seems to ignore it for the most part but whenever I tug on the leash at all he pulls the other way. It makes sense that he resists such 'guidance'. I've learned to work this against him though. If I want him to walk left, I tug right and he goes left...

Ha ya the only time i use the leash is if im outside and there are places i don't want him to wedge himself into. His ribcage is veryyyy flexible. Other then that i usually let him free roam like u let urs do.

Yes, there are some subspecies to V albigularis. These photos are of my (now deceased) male V albigularis albigularis. At the time of these photos he was more than 8 years old. Pretty mellow, but had a mean streak at times. Just a temperamental grumpy old man. But he was awesome!

He seems to have a whiter throat than your guy. I am by no means an expert, but there are other factors regarding coloration. There is often a great variation within a species because of regional distribution. Albigularis maybe not as much becuase of the smaller geagraphic area, (smaller area of course being relative when compared to other monitor species).

Ya RMKrugel ur white throat looks very similar to my other monitor. And I agree with you, they differ a lot even within subspecies I do notice the scales are a lot rougher and more pronounced on Brundon(the pics I posted) than my white throat. Idk if that makes a diff in anyone determining what he is =/.

He looks like a normal black throat to me. Just a locality is all. I've seen several WT /BT crosses and he has none of the markers presented in those mixes.
I have however seen those come from a 'quiet' place in Africa. Quiet meaning the importer keeps the location a secret.
