In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What does your dog look like?

my 3 sons

in order of appearance, in my home and here: Kronas, lab/pit/chow (as near as we can tell) mix. 6 yrs, 75 lbs of get away from my stuff!!. Got him from a shelter when he was barely 6 wks old. He fancies himself quite the bada$$, and carries a bit of a chip on his shoulder...but he's my boy. my wife says this so often I can hear it as I type this: "because Kronas never does anything wrong" (dripping with sarcasm from her, but IT'S TRUE). Blade, presa canario. 6 yrs, 160 lbs, with at least 3/4 of it being mush. He's a big baby with anyone he knows, but I wouldn't want to be the one he decides shouldn't be there. Affectionately referred to as Candya$$, because he is such a pansy about getting his feet (or the rest of him) wet, lol. Isaac, pitbull (mix?). the new arrival he's probably 5-6yrs, been here for 2 of them. shelter rescue. lotsa bad habits initially, but super eager to please. 70 lbs of lickin love that will, when warranted, join in the exuberant warnings of the other two...but only when warranted.
(yeah, I just snatched the pics off my website - but there are others scattered in a few threads here)

i've got 2 dogs. unfortunately, i can't get the hang of the photo deal so i'll describe them. there is taliesin, a 14+ lab mix that i rescued off the highway when he was hit by a car. they told me he would never walk again due to a dislocated spine. it's amazing what 6 months chiropractics, acupuncture and hydro-therapy along with modern medicine can do. he acts like a puppy even today and if you could see him you wouldn't believe his age. he has thanked me several times for saving him by saving my life twice from burglars that got into my house and even protected my 15 month old daughter from a neighbor's husky who decided to attack her when we were walking one night. my other dog is dhuiane(who an) a 6 yr old brindle and white whippet. she lives strictly for a tennis ball and nothing else. best dogs i've ever had.

Here are my four and the one I'm dog sitting this weekend:

Lady, an almost 12 year old puppy Golden Retriever:

Lucky, 5, Sheltie (anyone want this psychodog?):
2005111Lucky.jpg

Angel (NOT!), 4, Cocker Spaniel (yes, there are eyes in there somewhere):
2005111Angel.jpg

George, 2, a rescued Pug, abadoned in winter by a tenant:
2005111George.jpg

And last is a friend's little poodle, Charlie, who is about a year old I think:
2005111Charlie.jpg

Lady is the most (perhaps the only) protective Golden I have ever met. She thinks that my 10 year old daughter is her baby. I have many pictures of her "guarding" Katelyn as a baby/toddler, and she has backed many a "stranger" away from her. I call her my "old faithful".

Jim, those are all great looking dogs! My golden is anything BUT protective. She licks strangers and then gives them my socks.

...and why do you keep calling Lucky a psycho? Just curious. One of our shelties has the canine version of ADHD and tourette's. She'll punch you in the butt, and then run away screaming.

Believe me, if no one is home the Golden will happily show you to the jewelry. :bolt01: She just has a thing about the youngest child.

The Sheltie is really noisy. He barks A LOT, at EVERYTHING, inside and outside. He also is a bit aggressive with his pack-mates, especially the older ones. We had a male Golden who was older than him, and he always went after that dog. Now he often goes after Lady. It's beyond normal dominance, but it never gets to the point of anything injurious, fortunately. All of this despite 75mg/day of amitriptyline and attempts at behavior modification. But at times, he is extremely sweet.

He has other odd behaviors. He does not like being outside and generally only stays out long enough to do his business and bark at all of the neighbors, despite the fact that more exercise would probably be beneficial. The exception is when we are in the pool. He does laps around it, continuously, as long as we are swimming. And he goes in the same direction (clockwise) EVERY single time. If I turn him around by calling him and having him chase me, he turns back around as soon as he I stop calling him, and goes back to his clockwise laps (interrupting them only long enough to bark at the neighbors from time to time).

Okay we have here in order of appearance.

1. Spike- Terrier mix Rescue from the shelter as a present for my daughter
when she became potty trained.

2. Steffy- Shepard Mix- Shelter dog that was a present for my daughters
fifth birthday

3. Pearl- Pit mix- Was found abandoned along a highway here in Jersey
in February as an 8 week old puppy. She was brought to
my wifes vet clinic and I got a new dog to fill the void of
my 15 year old lab that had to be put down only a month
before. I do not have any pics on this computer but will
post some of her later

Jango

This is the only picture I can find that is small enough for me to post on here. I don't know how to do all the fancy computer stuff. His name is Jango, I call him an Australian Catahoula Leopard Shephard. He is definitely an Autralian Shep mix, could be Lousinana Catahoula Leopard Dog mixed in, but can't be sure. I adopted him from a shelter for my birthday as my present to me after being broken into our apt with someone home!! We needed a watchdog, which I got as well as a personal housekeeper, bed warmer, and all around great companion. He uses Matt's Shiba Inu as his squeaky toy, and has his own grey cat named Azriel who thinks he is a dog.

This is Taya (princess in Japenese). She is a Bullmastiff. Just a 140# lapdog.
She is positive that anyone coming to our house is there to see her. They must have come by just to pet her. If you come over and you think your not going to pet her...... think again.

Lol no, my dog is HYPER and she wears herself out, then plops down to drink and eat. Just today she was outside growling at a chunk of cement - I kid you not, tossing it in the air, chewing on it, and running at full speed around the yard with it in her mouth til she was panting heavily and laid down by her outside waterdish to drink. She's also an efficient mulcher of all the branches that have fallen from the three trees in the yard, and will chew up anything soft or hard that's big enough to be torn or fits in her mouth. She's not the brightest dog, either... she still enjoys chasing her tail around til she falls down, and knocks her head into EVERYTHING. Its a very hard head though, she's headbutted me a few times.

Btw kazoo, I think your dog is more shepard than mine, but I'm amazed how similar they look!

Callie has outgrown it now, but she used to chew on everything. She seriously chewed through an entire couch in a matter of an hour. It was not good.
But she's always been pretty lazy, even as a puppy. She would play for a while, but was really more the lay-around kind of dog, even then :)

They do look alot alike. Callie has the merle coloring of an aussie mixed in though.

That's how my dogs came to have their own loveseat...an how I lost the furniture battle with Blade. During our initial struggles, he destroyed my sofa. I refused to replace it for 2 years, then put up a futon I had had in storage. the battle commenced, and when neither of us would relent he started opening it up. Gave him the loveseat when we got the new sofa and we were both satisfied with the outcome

Well, as long as we're showing off our dogs...here are ours. Max is the lab mix, Gandolf is the black and tan dapple dachsund, and Arwen is the red dachsund. The puppies were just born this afternoon and are Arwen and Gandolf's. Gee...I wonder if she'll ever regain that girlish figure?

Beautiful dogs, and I love the first pic. "Let Me Back In" Too funny! :hehe: I love puppies!

My dog is my avatar. It is a Shiba Inu and his name is Haiku. We acquired him about a year ago from a lady that could not take care of him and offer the attention necessary to the breed.

I love that breed, bit hyper for me though. I couldn't keep up with one.

Abigail is my female Akita, my Avatar and first two pictures. The the group pic is the little evil ones: Buddy, the Beagle-found him one day in the street when going to the mail box, Rosie, the Beagle mix-rescued her from an abusive family and Clairice-found her when she was under a pound and a half, had a toothe stuck in her lip, two kinds of worms and a fly larva growing in her neck, obviously not a dog. The last pic is of My male Akita Hunter who died about about a year and a half ago. The best dog ever.

Thank goodness your animals found you, they all sound like they were in need of a loving home. I am sorry for the loss of your Hunter though. He was lucky to have such a kind hearted owner.

Toto aka the demon dog :dgrin:, just kidding. I can't believe the way some people treat animals, I would have shot HIM in the foot with his own gunl. :uzi: As for the whole my girlfriend doesn't like dogs thing, personally my opinion on it is you don't like my dog, I don't like you. We're a package deal. Well, they are all lucky that they found a home with you.

Oh, she /he is so adorable. I wold have said Rotti, but after seeing the last pic I honestly have no idea. Looks a bit like Dobi. Whatever the breed, you have a really nice dog there.

{dial-up death}my unknown (possible dob or rott, maybe lab)/shepard/husky mix Livia was part of an unwanted litter (intact female kept outside, loose male got to her). Some pics from puppy to now:

They are gorgous! Big boys though. To think about a dog as big and bad looking as Blade, being afraid of getting wet, too funny. :hehe:
