In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What herps have bitten you?

Let's see.... hmmmm... ok, been bitten by hognose, cape gopher, boa, & honduran milk .... I think that's it... None of it hurt ... felt like a safety pin stick

yeah bunnies that don't want to be held will bite, and draw blood. Unless it thought my hand to be a carrot for some reason.(lol) I didn't know what to do with it I didn't want to drop it but didn't want it in my hands either.

I wasn't holding it, I just opened the cage to put a mineral block in and it made some weird evil noise ran up, bit me & ran away. Then while I was crouched there looking at my bloody hand thinking :censored: :censored: it charged me again reared up and started boxing at me. I whacked it back into it's cage and seriously considered eating it in vengeance, but I want it to breed first. He's really pretty.

Three months later, still no baby bunnies

Ah, good times

lol, Laura!!

I took in a starving foal and she was such a cutey, she would nibble on my bracelet. Her Dam died when she was 2 1/2 months old, so while I was trying to save her life, I spoiled her rotten. I knew I shouldn't let her nibble, but she was so darn cute. One day she missed the bracelet and nibbled my wrist, Ouchy!! she is no longer allowed to nibble.

Speaking about bunnies, guess what my daughter convinced me to get her this weekend. Thats right 2 new dwarf bunnies. They are so tiny I could say no. Darn.

Reptilian bites, nothing too spectacular.

Green Iguana
Ret Tailed Boa
Ball Pythons (every so often)
Jungle Carpet (about once a month)
A bunch got me over the years; mostly mid-west colubrids.
Black Rats, Racers, Garters
Water Snakes with really big teeth

Non-reptilian bites, only the most memorable.

.. Porcupine; (quilled me, which hurt as bad as a bite).
.. Cat; messed me up pretty bad when I was a kid, a herd of them lived under my Grandmother’s house and I jumped on one to catch it. I never wanted to let go of something so bad in all my life.
… Pony; bit me in the back, I thought it took out a chunk of flesh it hurt so badly. Ponies are pure evil.
… Gerbil; hurt a lot, but not as much as the pony.

I try to only keep Pythons now because colubrid bites get all red and swell up; I’m guessing I’m allergic to the toxins in their saliva. I’m Ok with Pythons and Boas; I just bleed.

Bunnies are more evil than ponies!

Ok I guess we can add baby python to the list now. Man i hate adding to this list I'd much rather not add to it. And my daughter got front row seats to this one.

I been keeping, chasing and catching herps and things for years so i have a rather extensive list

Herps:
Green Anole
Western Fence Lizard
Southern Alligator Lizard
Many baby water turtles of varius species

and many more I have likely forgotten over the years.

Then there is all the bites and stings one gets when out in the field, ants, wasps, bees, hornets, a scorpion, spiders, ticks, etc etc. OW. Every log, rock and old blanket is a surprise.

Non Herps:
Well the thread says what herps have bitten you.

Been keeping them for 12-13 years now.

Been bit twice by the same red tail. It was my first one and was very tame. He just got me when I was reaching in for hm a few times. I have been beet on my super thick leather gloves a lot though.

Got but by a leopard gecko once also.
