In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What herps have bitten you?

What herps have bitten you?...

Worst bite was from this crazy Thai chic when I was in Pattaya (at least I think she was a chic). Although your asking about "herp" bites, I'm pretty sure she had herpes...so it does count.

Just like any other bite, this one was my fault...actually I had to pay an extra $50 for it ;)

My bites

Ball pythons
16' albino burmese ( broke my left hand, left a tooth )
African rock ( not a very nice wc )
Nile monitor ( from hatch till 3yrs couple times a month )
Asian water monitor
My wife

Interesting thread and interesting experiences!!

I will probably forget some because I have been bitten so many times by so many unusual animals that I wanted to list them first :)

Siberian Tiger cub that I helped raise for a zoo.
Cougar cub also for the zoo.
Several types of monkeys.. none too serious though
Deer
ferrets
screech owl who thought my thumb was his dinner
6 foot redtail... my fault for handling a rat before picking her up
corns
ratsnakes
black racers
garter snakes
ball pythons
macaws
yellow naped amazon... still have the scar on my finger from him
timneh grey parrot
iguanas
bearded dragons
savannah monitor
6 month old colt we were trying to halter train
a pig
a goat that wanted to eat my foot

My worst bite though was from a 4 foot male iguana that had been mistreated and launched himself off the ground and grabbed my forearm and decided to do a death roll with it.

Doesn't compare to Keith's bite and I'm so sorry you had to go through all that pain :)

I think that's about it!!

Little tickles- 4 foot red-tail boa Tiny baby tokays-jumped up and latched onto my arm repeatedly at feeding time. Anoles Crested geckos Golden geckos BIG PAIN- Bibron gecko that tried to chew my thumb off when I was helping him shed...he went air-borne when I shook my hand to get him the Hell off. You stole mine... minus the Thai chic in Pattaya...and I hope no herpes... So technically you didn't... BUT I got snapped by my baby alligator, Ali G from back in the day... He was calling to me, the cutest thing then he went CHOMP!
...I miss him now.

Not to be insensitive...but that made me LOL!

16ft tiger retic, 16 stitches. I know now not to pull away as fast as I can.

Dude, if a 16' retic bit me...not only would I pull away as fast as I could...I would also add a 200 or 300 yard sprint just for good measure. :bolt01:

Yeah, bad move. It took my big burmese about 10 minutes to let go. All I could really do when she wrapped up my hand and arm was pet her. Of course the whole thing was my fault anyway. Lesson learned: Don't sleep with a 16' burmese, and better yet if you do when she licks your face in your sleep don't smack at her thinking she's a fly landing on you! :NoNo:

Well, I can tell you I have not been bitten by a lot of different species, but I am definitely in for the count if you want to go for quantity. I have two Nile monitors and the are ornate Nile monitors. Well, let me tell you, I am almost afraid to wear anything other than long sleeves, someone might think that I'm suicidal.

Is it bad that i enjoy getting bit?

multiple BRBs
multiple BPs
multiple Chondros
3 Redtails
Carpet Python
multiple corns
