• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

what is it with the vendors

Idk if its cause im a newer member or what. Everytime I find something im interested in I pm them if there isnt a number and my pm is opened but never returned. Has happened on several different things. Oh well hopefully Ill start working my feedback up one of these days Thanks for the space to rant

I personally try to find time to respond to every inquiry, but sometimes there are PMs that seem like trolling that I choose to come back to at a later time rather than sound rude or impatient with someone.

So, only going by the fact that several different vendors are not responding to your messages, it might be that you are doing something "off" such as:

1) Asking for information that was clearly stated in the ad
2) Lowballing
3) Disregarding the seller's requests to only contact them via a certain means. "Only email me at ________, DO NOT PM"- and you promptly PM them usually doesn't go over well.

That's all that pops into my head. Though there are some red flags such as questions that indicate the person has zero idea about the care and husbandry of an animal I have for sale. This isn't always a deal breaker of course, but it does give me pause at times.

I have opened many a PM on my lunch break and thought that I had better wait until later to get into dealing with an individual. Not ignoring them, but life gets in the way and I can't always address certain issues on the spot.

I hope this helps :)

:iagree:

Some of them can just be :censored: though. I recently sent an email to a pretty popular guy that's local and has a better rep than me... totally ignored. I would recommend what I did after that happened. Start a list, add their name, and NEVER purchase or pursue a sale through them again. If you don't have time for me, I don't have time for you.

The thing about this "industry," is any idiot can start a business. That doesn't mean it will end up successful. Use the BOI, research and document people. Those who don't, keep the lazy and cheats in business.

Nick hit the nail on the head. I've been keeping a list of people that have either ignored me and locals that have stood me up. I need to right it down since the list is ever growing. Your only as good as your last transaction!

Please bear in mind that email is not nearly as reliable as it used to be. Much of the spam blocking gone on has become worse than the actual spam problem itself. So don't just assume that your email got through to the recipient.

Furthermore, many people apparently create an email account solely to register on sites like this, and let them expire afterwards. I get quite a few pleas for help from such people who later on forget their password and then have no way to recover it via the email function for this purpose.

Oh yeah, and MANY times people will reply to email notices from this site that CLEARLY state DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL, expecting that reply to go to whoever sent them a PM or else replied to a thread that they have subscribed to.

So before condemning someone for ignoring your email, make certain that you have a legitimate complaint.

Sorry, I meant PM in the post above. I did not use email to contact this person.

Some people will ignore you if they have a better deal, already sold the animal, or just prefer not to deal with you for whatever reason (maybe even if you can't even leave feedback on this person). Nobody is going to be for certain what the reason is, but I think if you feel you did everything right and were unjustly ignored, it's definitely something to take into consideration. Habits like that can come back to haunt you when something goes wrong with your delivery and they have ignored you in the past. Maybe not worth blacklisting, but worth noting.

Say for example you find a great deal on an item and you send two PM's and you notice the person has been online and not replied. Two weeks later you notice another item that's been listed for months now, you inquire and get an immediate response. That would be a sign for me to walk away but that's just my opinion.

I think a pretty accurate rule of thumb in all business transactions is that if you have trouble reaching the party to buy something from them, things will be MUCH worse trying to reach them if you have problems afterwards with your merchandise.

:iagree:

Exactly how I feel too.

Well, I guess Murphy's Law is having a kick at my head.

After what I said above, I just got this PM:
How do i post in classified section with a highlighted title?

So I guess I have to ad to my previous comments that perhaps sometimes people might ask questions that would take longer to answer than the receiver has time to put into providing them.......... :shootfoot
