In case most of you have not noticed, I made changes to the donation amounts as well as the durations for all of the paid membership levels. Things are winding down here, and this seems to be the most prudent way to deal with the "end of life" period of this site.
Contributor level members - $10 per 30 days
Sponsors - Eliminated
Benefactor level members - $25 per 30 days
Endowment level members - $50 per 30 days
On July 1, 2027, all paid memberships will be closed.
On August 1, 2027, FaunaClassifieds will be terminated.
Only change I expect that might take place is when I can get around to figuring out when the amount of money I would have to refund for the yearly paid memberships becomes less than the monthly expense of leasing my server, THAT date might be the termination date for the site.

Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Looks like an axolotl or mudpuppy. Maine may have some funny laws on them so you may want to look into it further.

I agree; mudpuppy. An axolotl's gills are fairly separated. Cool find!

This is definitely not a mudpuppy. Mudpuppies have paddle-shaped tails and, more importantly, have longer torsos and proportionally smaller legs than the salamander in this photo. In addition, mudpuppies only have four toes on the hind feet, whereas this salamander clearly has five.
This is definitely an Ambystoma of some sort, or mole salamander. The gills are probably undergoing reduction in preparation for emergence, and the timing is about right for that process to be underway. My guess considering you're in Maine is spotted salamander, Ambystoma maculatum, or blue-spotted salamander, Ambystoma laterale, with the former being more likely.

Why did you think Maine was bad for them? They like it cool and damp. We have a bunch in NY too. That is the larval form before morphing into the terrestrial adult of one of the species Vanessa mentioned above.
