    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I was talking with a friend the other day and we got into the subject of music...and from there, the kind of person we were when we were younger. People that like certain types of music tend to group together. So, what kind of music are you?

Depends on my mood.

I'm a pushover for Patsy Cline, but have my White Stripes moments. Then again I have my Social Distortion Moments too........

I could go on and on.......

Regards,

Terry

I think I am a total mood person. If I am bitchy, in traffic, and want to scare old ladies, it's Static X (I think they're classified as speed metal?). If I am feeling mopey, I have a slew of girlie music (3rd eye blind, dixie chicks, and sad songs from different bands), and then I like contemporary Christian music also. GreenDay (before 1996) is my all time favorite though. 3 doors down has a lot of sad miserable songs. I know there is a song from Ill Neno that I love! So romantic ahhhhh

Ah yes, music. I hate a little bit of everything. :hehe:

Hmmm, it is different for me every day....... Actually every couple of hours..... Sometimes I like to listen to some old school rap from back in the 80s...... I hate the freakin 80s rock and pop bands LOL...... I listen to 60s and 70 rock...... Jethro Tull, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Ozzy, Hendrix, The Doors, Cream, and so on..... Any Irish or Scottish punk band from the 70s is great....... They were all the GreenDay way before GreenDay..... I am a huge TOOL/PERFECT CIRCLE fan and SYSTEM OF A DOWN is awesome...... I like MUD VEIN...... Oh and I cant forget Manson...... I am sure I missed like 100 other bands but you get the idea....

experimental, surf, rock-rap, acid jazz, .....

If you really want to share with people what you lie and what you listen to the way to go is

http://www.audioscrobbler.com/

This assumes you listen to music on your computer...which we all know isn't ideal...but this is really cool software and web group.

It doesn't matter where I go I am bound to hear some damn club music. This brings back both bad and good memories of the mid to late 90's. the best memories would be from Europe in the mid 90's and the bad would be from here in the states in the late 90's. But being too old and not energetic enough to attend raves anymore (let alone have to patience anymore to deal with the little freaks) I tend to gravitate to artists I can relate to. Say Rob Zombie, Korn, Three Doors Down ( Hey they are from the South ok).

My music taste varies with my mood. All in all though, my tastes are pretty eclectic and there's no continuity in what type of genre I listen to on a given day. In the span of an hour, it could range from Guns 'n' Roses to Garth Brooks to the Doors to Beethoven.

As I type this, I'm listening to The Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera.

Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Hearing is beliveing, music is decieving,
Hard as lightning, soft as candlelight,
Dare you trust the Music of the Night

Gimme the deep dark train station/love lorn/ hard drinkin'/ blues. And Janis Joplin wailin out the Turtle Blues too. And Stevie Ray tellin' us it's rainin' down in Texas. BB King, The Thrill is Gone....

What I hate is all the non-conformist music I listened to as a kid now has "greatest hits" albums.

Also how the music that was against the "the man" and "the establishment" is now used in commercials...ARRRRGGHHHH!!!!!

LOL I've noticed that too. I really can't imagine any john lennon song being sold for commercial use of his own free will if he was still living...

BUT HE ISN'T LIVING AND YOKO NEEDS THE MONEY...

Figured I'd throw a few of my favorites out here.

Deicide (as my screen name may imply)
Carcass
Cannibal Corpse
Napalm Death
Cryptic Slaughter
Dead Kennedy's
GG Allin
Rich Kids on Acid
Walls Of Jericho
Death Angel
Fates Warning (with John Arch)
Hallows Eve
Naked Aggression
VoiVod
Suicidal Tendencies

and when I am in a mellower mood Les Miserables with the international cast.

ok guess that was more than a few.

I don't think anyone can accept just one form of music as moods and situations change and we follow suit.

As for me, I can, and do, accept all forms of music--except that rap crap. It is found in this genre of "music" that degrades females in particular, but also demeans society as a whole.

i like almost all types of music...ill listen to pop and reggae once in a while..depending on where i am, but mostly i like international music.....middle eastern and indian music....i used to bellydance...so for a long time, arabic drums and flutes was all i would hear...any thing i can dance to that has a good beat.....and i LOVE the phantom of the opera...i wake up and sleep singing those songs...and i like the classic disney movies songs to...under the sea..under the sea..darling its better down where its wetter take it from meeee....up on the shore they work all day, out in the sun they slave away....dadadaddaada..under the sea....

I like almost all kinds of rock... except for soft rock although there are a few good songs that are soft rock.
