    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

okay so I went on a hike yesterday and saw this guy right next to the trail in the water I have no idea what he is I just got him home and set him up in a tank I put together real fast cuz I wanted to get hime out of the container he was in I just put a rock so he can get closer to the heat and get in and out of the water if he wants since I found him in water and built a plexi lid so he couldn't get out so if someone could help me out and identify this snake for me that would be really helpful :)

Maybe a young sierra gatersnake? Google snakes of California, thats what I did.....looks like a garter, but I cant really determine by the pics......sierra looks closest to me

looks like a vagrans - Wandering Gartersnake Some off those are pretty variable in color and markings

You caught a threatened CA sp.: CA 2-Striped Aquatic Garter (Thamnophis couchi hammondi). They are threatened because their habitat, SoCA wetlands have been converted to cement culverts. In most places where they once occured, they have vanished like their prey, red-legged frogs and native fishes. Return to habitat!

when i first looked i thought dekay snake...im not even sure thats how you spell it, its been so long since i saw one. The head looks different, bu the color is right.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a two striped garter if u found it here in So Cal. They are a threatened species and illegal to have.

Did Wayne really have to post that five times? Some people get all excited when they get a chance to correct someone or point out something like this. There's right and wrong way of doing things. Show a little respect, that was uncalled for.
