What kind of turtle is this?

Hello all. I've had this turtle for about a year he came to me from a customer who bought him from an asian super market. I assume hes wild caught. His shell is in great shape consitering his past. I belive hes eather a red eared slider mutt or possibly melanistic. What do you all think?

My guess is an old RES. They have a tendency to become melanistic with advanced age.
