In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

WHAT SHOULD I DO! ASAP

Well thanks for posting the pic. That really sucks, it looks like a nice animal, I just think you have to stop trying to blame the seller. And I would encourage you not to let this stop you from getting anymore.

I had two small snakes being delivered but send the wrong zip, so they went about a hour away(ups). So syr called the sender and told her, she called me to let me know and I was going to pick them up so I called ups to find out if they was still there come to find out you can't call a hub direct. To make a long story sort they was sending it to the right hub to get to me and couldn't tell me where it was at all they could tell me is it was on a truck headed to the right hub. I was on the phone all day, it was on a Friday and could not pick them up or get them till Monday. I got mush I a box, But ups or syr would not take responsabilty.

There is alot of points to blame but you are in between a rock and a hard spot. Sorry it happened but don't just give up, most local breeders keep telling me it takes time but not to give up. Good luck in the future!!

Was there any paper between the heat pak and the snake? Those heat paks get pretty hot and I would never place one in direct contact with a snake bag, deli cup etc... I always place several sheets of newspaper between the critter and the heat pak.

I got a burn once from one of those Thermo wrap things.

Sigh..this is exactly why I give buyers like this their money back and cross them off; I don't even give them the opportunity to have another snake from me. This thread was totally unnecessary. The seller is following his TOS as is his right. We are supposed to be stopping SCAMMERS. The seller isn't the scammer in this incident. The box looks clean, fresh and the snake looks as if it were packaged correctly.:shrug01:

Correct me if I am wrong, OP, but the seller had originally tried to work with you..apparently that wasn't satisfactory? I personally would not have wanted to send another snake to a possible death. Are you insisting on a new snake free/refund even though the incident was apparently your fault? What kind of resolution are you looking for? I do not blame him in the slightest if he refused to give you a free snake or reduced price snake after this posting; although, to get rid of you and the issue, I would have given you your money back and I probably would have then posted about YOU as a bad buyer.

This kind of drag out can make the BOI ineffective as this is acting as a BOI thread in a discussion forum.

*to the "having to use the bathroom" remark...I leave my door open. When I leave my door open the FexEx knows I am home and they will leave the box.

i agree Deb. i also think there is wrong doing on all three sides the seller for wanting a signature, shipper for not knocking or ringing bell, and buyer not ready and waiting for the shipment, either way still a bad situation and the only loser in the whole deal was the snake.

Honestly, I do understand what you are saying about the signature, but it serves a purpose (when used).

It is to prevent scamming by customers, it assures the seller that the box was delivered and prevents the buyer from claiming that he never received the package and thus is entitled to another snake (it also can serve as a paper trail).:shrug01:

Ed, I would take the offer on the $100.00 shipped Spider and look for a good day to ship without needing any heat pack. I know my Fed Ex deliveries come with a knock and by the time I answer the door which is only seconds the delivery guy is already stepping in his truck. :ack2:

When you're expecting a delivery post a big note on the door so UPS or Fed Ex knows to knock loudly and wait a minute for you to answer.

Personally I don't ship without a signature because that's my gaurantee the person accepted delivery.

Sorry this happened to you bud.

What a shame, the loss of the snake.

That stated, I will add my personal opinion. If I were the seller in this scenario I would offer to replace the snake at the cost of shipping. Terms of service are in place to protect both buyers and sellers from abuse. If the buyer states he was there to receive the package and I had no reason to not accept his statement, I would give the person the benefit of the doubt. That's just me.

Now, I have sent many, many packages. I have never ever put any holes in the shipping boxes. I know some do and some don't. I haven't yet ( knock, knock on wood) had a DOA. Signature required is the industry standard. I have always shipped signature required and the many packages I have received over the years have, I am almost certain, always came signature required. Over the years there have been many situations that have graced the BOI because the seller chose to save a buck or didn't require it. From packages stolen off the front porch to snakes sitting outside by the front door all day and perished. In my opinion it's safer using that option than not.

As Deborah can attest.. I ask wether or not the buyer wants me to do the Signature Required. I have had some say Yes and some say No.. It all depends on them!! I always track my packages and when I know they have been delivered I will call the buyer just to give them a Heads Up!! I always get nervous when I ship because to me this right now is a hobby but I'm hoping to make it my life's work in the far future!! I'm trying now to build up my reputation and so far I've had good luck (knock on wood)!! I just hope that something like this doesn't stop the OP from purchasing again!! I would take the option on the $100 shipped spider and call it a loss!! These things do happen but we learn from our mistakes right? Good luck and hope that you've learned a couple lessons here!! I always put a note on my door when expecting a delivery and I make sure that I track the package and know when to expect it!! I leave the door ajar but I'm usually standing in the driveway waiting when the truck pulls up!! Just my .02 or maybe a little more.. LOL.. but that's the way I work :)

I never refused his offer for the relacement i told him that i would have to figure out if i wanted to continue with my ambition. Of. Breeding BPs. He then sent me an email stating he took back the offer and sold the other spider. I took pics of the box i found 3 heat packs inside of it. I will be psting pics on the BOI about this. I work the night shift so i can not post as i am writing this on my phone

What size was the box?

Not to sound overly suspicious or anything, but it just seems a little odd that every reference to any heat packs up until this point all said the heat PACK not heat packS. Were the heat packs all in separate parts of the box where the others couldn't be found or what? And if so, why no mention of the other 2 heat packs that appeared until after being at work no where near the box? Suddenly discovered right before leaving for work?:shrug01:

I'll let him answer for himself, but I did get emailed prior to him posting on here, also just before he goes to work that he found two heat packs in the bottom of the box.

I'm assuming, and would like confirmation of this and also the size of the box, but that the other packs were under or in the papers he was talking about, that were under the python? So if I understand correctly, it seems like 1 heat pack taped to the top styro lid, the snake under that, then paper under the snake with another two heat packs in or under that paper.

I didn't really understand why the snake overheated(or if that was the cause of death), seemed kind of odd how a 4 hour delay would fry a snake, but I guess in the right circumstances it would be possible. This would explain that.

I asked him the same thing, but he replied to me he is at work and the box is at his house. 3 heat packs, if thats the case that sounds like a potential problem to me.

I was skimming through post so I missed that post but assuming it wasn't a very large box 3 heat packs could be a bit overkill.

I am not taking sides but it sounds like the snake might not of ben in Optimal shape to start with,I mean I sometimes with corns have shipped 2 days for people and the snakes get their fine.I just got a 2.2 set of Beardies that were shipped 2 day and even delayed 1 extra day(USPS) and they still were just peachy! I think if the snake was healthy to begin with he should have made that trip fine unless that box was awfull small! 2-3 heat packs if they were 40hr "WOW"
