In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What to do about a weird situation?

I think I might of thought of WHY Lickity isn't eating? Lets see tonite is the FOURTH time shes gotten lose. The weird scents around the house and no heat source could probably turn her appetite off I guess. An I REALLY duck taped that darn thing shut. Shes one heck of a Master. Cat I know you gave me that idea about building whatever around her. I didn't quit get the picture, but I can't really build stuff anyway.

Does anybody out there have a Ball in a rubbermaid thats not in a rack? How would you lock her down? I am brainless about this. I tried the clamps but they didn't fit. I am REALLY SICK of her getting lose, one of these times its gonna be the last time I see her.

I would also like to find her by Tuesday because on Tuesday we are getting our Satelite hooked up. Which is really great because I've lived BORED as heck without t.v. for the past three years and its a great deal of only $20.00 bucks a month and in the end Jeff and I are saving LOADS of money this way. So I have a few questions. I am going to tell him theres a Snake on the lose when he arrives before he comes in and all about her and what not. Can he refuse to hook me up? Should I tell him? I want to so he doesn't step on her. An like Dogs if by some weird chance he runs into her and she bites him will she have to be put down or taken from me? I am sorry, but I've never dealt with this situation before. Thanks again guys. :)

rubbermaid

I have used rubbermaids before. Make sure you put enough holes in it so it is the right amt of humidity. Too few holes to high humitiy to many too low. However you can ALWAYS tape up the holes if there are too many. Most of the rubber maids I have seen lock good but If in doubt put something heavy on top of it. I used to use my collage A&P books ;). Once I got so mad I put a 10lb sack of potatos on top of my balls container. He couldnt lift that.

To find her, Put a heating pad down with a hide on top of it. I have had luck doing that.

Good luck.

Three escapes and you were STILL using a rubbermaid tub just sitting somewhere by itself?
These tubs should be used because they have to be due to the size of a collection, not because they're a cheap way to keep one snake.
IF you find her this time, buy a real cage if you can't build one. There's just no excuse for trying to half-ass housing one or two snakes, especially when it's been demonstrated multiple times that it isn't secure.

As far as the guy coming to hook up the satellite, I don't know what to tell you other than the fact that if you were housing her properly you wouldn't have to be asking the question in the first place.

Wow, Thanks. She has a uth under her rubbermaid and the temps are good but I don't keep a uth under my carpet. I have a 55 gallon glass tank Clay but opted to not put her in it because I knew she would feel extremley insecure and shes already an import/finicky butt eater so NO. I'll keep her in her rubbermaid and find a way to lock it down. My Landlord has a work shop down stairs and her Son is ALWAYS talking to me about the Critters so I'm sure he'll be glad to help. I should find her because this is a small apartment. Her Snakie bum is just curled up somewhere but I'll continue to rip my apartment apart. Ugh, I'll figure out something. Thanks for the help guys, and Thanks for the heating pad suggestion. :)

Found her behind the fridge! I think its her new favorite spot. I've got her ridiculously locked down for now and tommorrow I'll got talk to Mister fix it man Matt. Hes my main dude! Thanks again guys! :)

...

Take all your animals.

All of them.

Contact someone who knows what they are doing and get permission to send the animals to them.

Follow through with that.

Don't buy anymore animals.

Ever.

Seamus **** happens. Next time one of yours gets lose you should REALLY think about selling yours. I personally don't trust arrogant people. They NEVER ask for help nor do they listen. Stop posting because I really don't care for you. Your an ugly person. Thanks :)

Walking a thin line leiganne , be carefull .

Suggestion?

since she isn't secure, have you tired putting her tupperware INSIDE the 55 Gallon cage? I did this with my feeder mice for awhile so my cat would (sort of) leave them alone. I had clamps on the 55, the mice in their smaller cage, and then i just made sure the clamps were on and they had food an such until i could feed the snkes a few hours later.
Most lids for the aquarium style tanks will allow a cord to fit through the sides, and you can use an extension cord if you need it.

I don't want to step on your toes, but you do need to be sure she is secure and fast! next time she may escape the building or get stuck and starve to death. And while I think seamus and clay are being rude about you do sound like you are having a lot of husbandry issues. You really need to consider if you can afford to keep as many animals as you have (time, not just money), and when you have lost a snake that many times in that short of a period of time, you have to change something IMMEDIATELY. I admit I have had 2 escapes, but they were about seven months apart & different animals where myself or a roomate did not properly lock up.
If you prefer the cheaper tupperware housing, why don't you try one of the locking tupperwares? I have two in my basement being readied for conversion into temporary carriers.

Anyways, Target sells some online and has their own brand of locking tupperware. I have friends who keep their breeders in those securely. They are the cheapest snake containers I have ever found, although they are a little pricier than normal tupperware, they are a million times nicer for preventing escape. I think some other stores Like Walmart may carry them, but just be sure they are secure and properly ventilated if you switch her into one.

I will check into those tubs, Thank You. I was going to drill a few more holes in her tub and find something that locks. Thats why I said Matt's got the work shop downstairs because my tool collection sucks. I kept on thinking I had it, but nothing worked. She is one strong stubborn Snake.

As for all of my animals I have stated in previous posts this year is about downsizing. I love the Rescue Leos I have but honestly can't wait until their gone. They are to much time, money and literally bending over the bath tub every night to clean 8 tanks a night is a pain in my back. I want to be back to calm and focusing all my energies on MY babies. I am medicating two stubborn Rats and seven Geckos and fussing with Lickity all the time is a ware out. TO MUCH! To much for me to even think straight, like I do half the time anyway though. Nobody in this house has escaped like Lickity does. Anyway, Thanks darkblood. :)

Christopher66, question. Are you a Moderator?

Kristin,

If you want them gone so bad, hand them over to someone more capable of caring for them!

That way, you can focus on your "babies" and prevent mistakes like having them escape!

You sound like you are spreading yourself too thin, and although your intentions are good, you really need to focus and concentrate on YOUR animals.

Yes... asterix do happen. When you fail, time after time, after time to actually learn anything from mistakes though, or argue and fight with anyone who tries to teach you a better way, or encourage you to fix the underlying problem then you're just going to see more asterix. You'll be neck deep in asterix, breathing asterix, eating asterix and living asterix. How's yours taste?

Given the number of things that have gone wrong with you, your apparant inability to perceive the likely outcome of your own methods and the way you continually refuse to accept the resonsibility for your choices- you should not own animals.

You were naive. Everyone starts that way, then they learn. You haven't learned anything though and that makes you ignorant. Your judgement and education are clearly incapable of meeting even the minimal demands these animals have in order to stay healthy. When you can't care for something, the only reasonable choice for an ethical person is to find someone that can.

Incidentally... I've had one escape. Ever. Girlfriend at the time had a cat which sat ontop of a screened display enclosure- ripped through and let a d'albert's loose for a few hours. Want to know *why* I haven't had more escapes? I am not an idiot and have never used a obviously substandard enclosure. Want to know why you have had so many? Think it through.

Ohyeah, I also reccognize that the mods have a job to do keeping the boards clean and enforcing the rules and standards for behavior and acknowledge that it's their perception of a thread that matters, not mine or any other non-mod member. That being said, I'm fairly certain that there is no chance whatsoever for Kristin to actually say anything that'd bug me more than the endless stream of posts explaining how she screwed up this week. She can't antagonize by trying because it's the default state for her anymore.
