    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

can anyone tell me what would cause this to happen, i have never seen this before.the background is i had this snake since october when it was born.its always ate like a pig once a week .never missed a meal. she was growing at a crazy rate compared to my others.about twice as large.i fed her last on Wednesday .. a f/k small mouse.5 days before i sold her. she had a small bulge in her belly sunday morning.i dint think anything of it and i was waiting for the big deification she usually has .

i sold her to a guy who drove up from jersey to pa on sunday to pick her up.while he was inspecting her she deficated a little on him but other wise she seemed fine untill yesterday . he sent he pictures of what she looks like as of this afternoon? i dont think anything shady took place but i am still very confused on the entire situation.any advise would be greatly appreciated.

he said on monday all was well and he liked her. this morning he first said she wouldnt eat yesterday, which i said dont try to feed her for at least a week , dont handle her until she is in her new home for at least a week or two.he also said she seemed limp this morn and cold .

she was kept in a tub, in a rack with a hot spot of 90deg.on a substate of paper towels.

he added later today that brown junk was coming out of her mouth, but wasnt there when he went to take a picture to show me.then in his luch break he sent that pic .
 
It looks like a mass in the snakes upper abdomen, like a regurgitation that did not make it all the way out. I would ask for better pics, and a return of the snake so you could see what the mass is. Very odd..:(

i said to try to soak her in warm water, only thing i could think of if she was blocked up.

should i refund his money and have him send it back dead or alive. i cant prove what happened there but i feel bad either way.

A day? You said you saw a lump 5 days before you shipped her out.. Give us the run down on your husbandry of this animal. The other guy had it for a day.

hes had it since sunday, it started the swollen thing this afternoon. he tried to feed it tuesday or yesterday and it wouldnt eat .

i keep all of my balls in ap racks according to size , they all feed on either f/k or frozen thawed every wednesday for 08', sunday for all adults.temps are a hotspot of 88 to 90 and ambient temps of 80 to 82 deg. i use the precut tub liners for a substrate.healthy habitat for cleaning.fresh water a 3 times a week at least.
i have been keeping them since 1995 and have never had a death, well i had a kingsnake cook itself once.that particular animal was from ozzyboids , so its not bad quality or wholesale stuff.

once again i am not saying anything shady happened i was just looking for answers because i have never seen anything like it.
 
There's just too many ways to kill a snake in 5 days. That bulge could even be there from someone stuffing a meal down it's throat. You just don't know after days have passed what really happened. General rule of thumb is that when you pick it up in person, inspect it and like it or don't take it. Once you leave with it, it's yours. No guarantees unless specifically agreed to. It's a sucky deal on both ends but you can't guarantee the animals care after it leaves your hands. In the end it's up to you to decide what you want to do. Good luck.

thanks for your advise, i dont know what i will do, he is supposedly sending it to me but it seems like everyone is pointing in the "fed it too big of a mouse or force fed because it wouldnt eat.i cant imagine doing that on the first attempt of feeding , well or even trying to feed after having it for less than a week.

probably not worth the cost of having an autopsy done, it just sucks period.

At least they could open up her throat to see if there are scrapes or signs of a force feeding.

That would preclude a return of purchase price, at least.

It would be very nice to know what exactly happened.

yea i will check into costs, i have a family member who is a vet tech.its driving me crazy not knowing , especially with so many variables . thanks
 
at the very least I would get the body back so you can open it up and see what the lump is before refunding any money. I don't know what you were paid for her~ but if the cause of death is not fairly obvious on your inspection or a necropsy.........you might want to consider refunding or offering a credit for future purchase just to keep your name out of any potential mud slinging.

if you dont, and you feel its your fault, refund the money. Otherwise, this is on the buyer.

What were HIS conditions for the animal like? Was it warm enough on the hot end? Did it have water? How did he take care of this animal?

That lump partway down the body is NOT in the stomach, though. So if it was fed/forcefed.... id be asking what, and why.

allegedly the conditions were ok (90 deg hot spot in a tub).i just dont understand how all these large (oddly mouse looking) lumps appeared at lunch time, when in the morning they were not there or not mentioned in the 3 or 4 emails i received from him.

he said he would get me photos of the limp snake at lunch break and the picture you see is what i got .you would think the lumps would have been the most alarming heath issue but weren't mentioned at all.

the more i speak to people the more i begin to question exactly what happened.multiple people have said the same thing you have and also add that the neck looks traumatized, or broken. the animal is allegedly on its way to me so i will post the results.until then i dont know what to think.
 
The snake is on its way to you? How? It was picked up, is it close enough to go get?

I'm going to start a paypal wager to see if the lump is still there when you get the body.

do you smell fraud????
