In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What would I get by crossing a hypo boa to a guyana?

Hypo Guyana cross...

You have the potential to make some nice looking snakes...

I have seen some Hypo Peruvians cross that look like Hypo Bcc...

Luis

No, you won't end up with hypo guyanas...you'll end up with BCI/BCC crosses. No matter how much any of the babies looks like a guyana, they will still be crosses. One of the concerns with this is that even if the breeder portrays everything accurately, there's no guarantee that that will be done consistently as those crosses change hands. I've seen mutts sold as pures (whereI knew the origin of the animals - not just a best guess based on appearance), and the seller refused to change the label...sadly, there are a lot of people that won't hesitate to make up information they don't know, or change information to suit their purpose.

:iagree:
I've seen the same thing as well.

Personally I think you could make some much better looking kids with guyana x guyana, be worth more too (if that is a concern).

Whatever you do, please make sure to be honest and upfront about the parentage.

Breeding Common Boas to True Red Tail Boas is a hit and miss kind of thing...

You can get some amazing looking babies...

Most people are already breeding True Red Tail Boas to True Red Tail Boas... And as far as locality True Red Tail Boas they are not worth more than a cross to a locality collector...

If you breed them you get 50% babies... No matter if they look like 100% True Red Tail Boas, or like 100% Common Boas...

If breed back to Common Boas their babies will be 25% True Red Tail Boas
If breed back to True Red Tail Boas their babies will be 75% True Red Tail Boas

This would be the same as breeding for Salmontines.. Except the Argentine Boas are much more endangered... And, the Argentine crosses don't look half as nice some Hypo 50% True Red Tail Boas...

I agree 100%, and have had this same discussion on rainbow boa crosses several times. Better to avoid.

You get a bunch of mutts with a very limited market. You can make better looking hypos through selective breeding of Colombian boas, as Harald and I have shown.

Luis, have you gotten around to taking some outdoor, indirect sunlight pics of those "sunburnt" sunglows?

Thanks, Chris

I think the Hypo Guyana would be a very good looking snake... With the broad, brick colored saddles of Guyanas It could have the potential to make some amazing thick saddle Hypos and eventually Sunglows...

Thin Saddle Super Salmons look nice... But in Sunglows they are not very impressive.... A 50/50 Saddle/Spacing Sunglow would look 100 times better...

People have bred the Hypo Boas to Argentine Boas, to make the Salmontine Boas, which is beyond me why... (Personally, I would had try Anery x Argentine)

People have also bred Hypo Boas to Hogg Island Boas, to make the Sunset Boas, Some of which look very nice...

Those Hypo Peruvians were very nice looking animals and where on the $350. to $500. price range... Of course now they be worth about $50. each... Hehehe...

James, I am still waiting on some Sunglows to shed... You are better off looking up on my Picture trail account.... I am not taking the effort on my day to post them here...

Here's one of my mutts i picked up in 08 from a Hogg Island x Salmontine breeding, 2 adult pics and 1 baby picture. what a change.
