    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What would you do if you had these problems and can you help me?

I recently purchased a bearded dragon from dragons den Herp last week. On tuesday he arrived, he was one of the most beautiful and health dragons I had ever seen. That has changed, the dragon seems uncomfortable and will not eat much or at all... I have moved hom from a glass tank to a non-clear sided bin, I have changed temperature and feeding routine. Ihave called kevin and he told me what he could and plan on calling him again, but if I do it will be to return this dragon.... I am very stressed and I am trying to get M M dragons up and running again, and if he doesn't eat then he will not grow and then I cannot breed him which was my plan.... Then M M dragons will close and yeah.... so help me out here what can I do what would you do??

Bearded dragons can got through relocation stress for anywere from a few hours to a month. It happens. Especially if you setup is drastically different then the setup he was used to (substrate, lighting source, temps, feeding times, smells, things the dragon can/cant see, etc). I think its a tad of a over reaction to be considering sending the dragon back. Remove all hides from his tank, make it so he can not see out, and limit handling to the only most necessary.

Next time you talk to Kevin ask him to outline exactly what this one's baby bin was like. Mimicking what the dragon is used to can help limit relocation stress a great deal.
 
Brian's right. Total relocation stress. Some dragons do better than others when moved but there are a lot of variables that go into the equation. Just the environmental changes alone are quite stressful. California one day and then he is in Illinois the next. Temp., humidity, barometric pressure, altitude...you get the picture. Just out of curiousity, how old is this dragon?
 
I agree, but make sure he's not dehydrated..

I agree it could be going from a hotter state, to a cooler state, as well as he needs to aclimate to new surroundings. But a little baby should aclimate in less than a week, and if it's about a week and he's not eating I'd be worried about him getting dehydrated.
I would not force feed him. I've seen people kill healthy dragons by not being patient. I would put him in a tank on papertowel or newspaper and start misting him well every day, for about 5 minutes. Doing it on sand is going to make a mess. Getting him drinking and having a big bowl of greens should get his appetite back.
Offering just a few crickets later in the day when he's hot will tempt him further. Sometimes they freak out if there's too many.
And check those temps. If it's cold outside and over all house temps are 70 or below, bring up the basking site temp to 105-110. On hotter days you'll have to change bulbs.

Yes,hydrating is a MUST. Spray gently,a small stream on the head between the eyes,it drips down to mouth and they drink. Don't change cage again!! He is already stressed...this will cause even more ! To tempt him to eat,get some phoenix or regular mealworms.....use just the fresh shed. That usually works. I've occasionally had dragons even at 9-10" that became stressed when moved to a different cage,not eat+ try to hide. All personalities are different{like children} and we DON't know what happened to it during transit. { We would hate to think but the boxes accidentally and perhaps NOT accidentally get tossed around }
 
I always feed them in their cages, I thought i posted on here, but not sure what happend to it, He is eating know and seems to be settaling in. He has developed a little additude... I think you guys were right, All the temps where great and I am sure that he just needed to acclimate like you guys all said....
