Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What would you do in this situation?

Just a simple statement on your paper include in your box would cover you as well. Feel free to check out our terms and policies page and use what works best for you.

It sounds off from my side too. Heck you are willing to replace the animal, that is the best option! I would think IF the python got a so called "cold", it wouldn't have died so fast! Besides, temps have been fairly warm not cold.

Im gonna agree with the folks here. You offered way more than I would have, and you dont owe him a dime.

If Im understanding correctly the buyer had the snake for 2 weeks and it ate fine and he was happy with it... then BAM.... its dead. Something just doesn't sound right. Add that with the obvious lies he is telling "The buyer sounds upset, states that he's been breeding and caring for snakes for '17 years' and has never had this happen"... and he's only 22?

Sorry... but I dont buy the 17 years bit. That means he started when he was 5. Its possible he may have had reptiles at a young age... but that young his folks are taking care of it.

Another thing that Im seeing... he had the animal for 2 weeks. You have no idea how it was housed or cared for in that lenght of time. I know you want to be a good seller, but you can not be held responsible for your customers lacking husbandry.
 
I agree with everyone in here. The only thing I would do is post up in the BOI about his buyer. Do you really want someone else to buy from him? And him "possibly" kill another snake, or better yet, use the photo of the dead snake on someone else (if he buys a snake that looks like it)?
 
hold up a sec i am the purchaser of this snake.i got my very first rosy boa at age 7 and have been at it ever since.if u would of looked at my page under date of birth it would of said 12-06-85 which puts me at 25 not 22 i dont update my page and second of all i saved all our emails back and forth and you never once offered me a nother snake.u said if u get one in trade u would let me know.so to all whose is now apart of this delima lets get it all straight before we jump.so what do the rest of u think i should do about this.oh and for the record i only asked for the 80 for the snake back not the 44 shipping.
 
This is not really the place for your side of the story, Cody. In this forum, things have to stay somewhat generic. Now that both parties are identified, and another side is being presented, it can't continue here. If Cody or Lucas want to say more on the matter, it needs to go to the BOI. If anybody has questions they want to ask of either party, please ask them in the appropriate forum.

I did offer you another snake, I clearly stated in the e-mail that if you'd like another, I'd send it to you minus the cost of shipping, which you would have to cover :\ I'm not interested in turning this into a BOI thread, and I believe we were handling it very civilly through e-mail. The only reason I came here was to ask for advice, since I've never had this happen during a transaction before.
 
Also, I just sent you another e-mail Cody, if you'd prefer to keep it through there. I'll be around for the next couple of hours if you'd like to continue discussing this.
 
You don't owe him anything, like you said if it was DOA then yes you would be entitled to pay him back, but after a week or however long you said and the snake ate and such. The mice/rats he gave the snake could of had a diesease. Which in that case is most likely what happen. I know when i was little my dad had a snake and it died from a bad mouse. There is no reason whatsoever that the snake sold could of died because of something you did. Unless you injected it with something just trying to rip someone off, which is 100% stupid and not true. This guy just did something wrong and wants 80 dollars to try again.

What is there to "settle?" You had the animal for a while with no signs of illness and then a sudden death (at least this is what I understand).

Only a customer from HELL would try and get something out of the seller in this kind of situation.

I have purchased a SCREAMING Lemon Pastel female, it died SIX months later though no fault of my own and without any indication of serious issues..should I go after the seller? My snake care is top notch.:shrug01:

My point is: Even if it wasn't your fault, there was no indication of illness, and you seem not to have been in contact with the seller until the snake died.:ack2:

Apparently the fact that this is NOT a BOI thread is lost on some people....
Any BOI type post made here is subject to an infraction - please keep that in mind.
