In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What would you do?? Shipping address and name not the same

I have a person who bought a boa from me under a name from on here .
They are from Mi. The name I got paid from is different than the name on the fauna account, and they also want me to ship to a different address than the pay pal account.

I already got burned by someone for a sunglow from Mi.(Chris Taylor) So I'm very skeptical about doing this. It feels wrong and I just don't like all the different names and addresses.

Opinions please

Is the account fairly new or is it someone who has been a member for a while and who has a decent reputation? Have you asked the buyer to explain the discrepancies?

If you don't get satisfactory answers then give a refund and if the buyer still wants the snake then IMO your reputation is good enough that you can ask for a USPS MO as payment.

Can you have more than one address linked with one account from pay pal ?

I was told they checked the wrong address to ship to. But I got a note with the payment to send to this address please. And they gave me a different address to ship to that differed from the PP account.

Older member without any activity. No rep,no anything.

Yes, a person can have more than one address attached to a PayPal account...however, as the seller, you lose your protection of you ship to a location other that the one shown on the payment.
The name discrepancy is big, and should bring things to a screeching halt (some explanations are reasonable & valid....but get it in writing of you choose to proceed). As far as the explanation you were given about the address - my suggestion would be to tell the buyer you will refund the payment, so he(she) can resubmit with the proper address.

I have to agree with Koshy and Harald. Gut says "no".

Refund and then deal with a buyer you don't have to go hoops through. It should be plain and very simple.

Good topic, im going thru same thing. Im having a snake shipped out this week but have to work so my girlfriend is receiving him. Also at the point in time when i purchased him it was the weekend so i couldnt deposit money in my paypal account so i payed for him with my girlfriends paypal account. Plus like i said i work so i asked for the snake to be shipped to the house where my girlfriend is babysitting. Of course that address doesnt match the paypal one. Now the sender cant ship till tomorrow & my girlfriend will be at home, not baby sitting. So i had to give him another address which is my home. The whole way thru this i have explained everything to the seller so there is no issue. If there not explaining things to you then it seems a lil shady. I feel if there is reasonable explnations its ok when addresses dont match, but then again i havent bin burned yet here. Hope i never am, haha.
Good luck.

I have this already, but thank you.

At this point all you can do is more research; IMO there are still too many red flags to ship. Start an inquiry thread on the BOI here, check the multiple BOI's on Facebook (as a side note, the guy who ripped you off is making quite a name for himself there as well), find a reptile forum for the buyer's state to see if he is active there or if anyone knows of him, run google searches on the names, mailing addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc.

Today is Wednesday and you haven't shipped yet. Personally I don't care to risk shipping on Thursdays because if something goes wrong on Friday the package will sit all weekend. So, you have a few days to do more research. There could be a very legit explanation for all the discrepancies: it's a birthday gift so someone other than the recipient is paying for the snake, or the buyer can't be home that day due to other obligations so someone else will be receiving the package... or it could be a scammer. You need to dig.

Where is Chris making a name for ? If it's the boi, that's because I nailed him. He also tried to rip my buddy off on here and I caught that too. He used the name David Zachary. Mike Masters was on the other end of being burnt by the same guy using two names and in Tx. But he wrote exactly the same, same attitude and all. Look up David Zachary.

Sorry, but that's a crock.
If the story doesn't line up, the best thing a seller can do is refund the payment and end the deal. The seller doesn't "need to dig" to try to make sense of things. He can if he wants; but that's likely delaying the inevitable. Ask once - if the answer doesn't smell right, or is otherwise unacceptable - move on.

Warning: Discussion of specific names is BOI material, if you want to start throwing them around - take it there

:iagree: And sorry Harold.

Ok,I talked to both parties of the whole deal and feel comfortable with their reason and have decided to ship.

They paid with a verified account with one address that didn't match the address they wanted me to ship to, So I had them send me a dollar from same name with the proper address they wanted me to ship to. It all matched up and both the address are verified. Which goes through their bank, I believe.

Plus they were totally nice and didn't sound to be lying at all.

We'll see tomorrow morning huh?

Thanks all

If it feels wrong I would do things via money order or not at all; and this one seems off.
There are far too many scammers out there and they seem to use all sorts of "confusion" tactics to get the animal sent and the money refunded.
It could be legit but I would assume scammer unless proven otherwise by means of reputation, etc.

I have had animals sent to an address other than my paypal address.
In fact I do that for everything.
I send all animal shipments to my workplace because I am there to receive them and have a QT tank waiting.
Every time I do this I let the seller know prior to making the transaction.
Some sellers took a deposit via paypal and the rest via check or money order as a result, but a legit buyer will be willing to do that with a reputable seller.

Like I said, after talking to them a bit. They seem ok. I hope it turns out ok.
I like to think I've been a good judge of character all these years. At worst,it only cost me $270. Not that I want to throw away money. Tomorrow brings a new day. Hopefully it's not a bad learning curve.
