• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What would you do???

I have a question.  Here is the situation:  I sold a snake to a gentlemen, when it arrived, he was apparently unhappy, said the snake was malnurished, near death, ect.   Complained to every website, paypal, ect.  Before giving me a chance to respond or try to right the situation. He wrote me a nasty email demanding his money back.  I replied "no problem, just send the snake back and I will refund the money".  Keep in mind, all of this transpired in a matter of a couple hours after the snake arrived.  I have since heard no word, gotten no phonecalls or replies to the six emails I have sent in the last two days.  I don't feel that the snake is returnable after 48hours, since I don't know how it has been cared for in the meantime. Is this person just trying to get money and keep the snake or what? What do you guys think?
Thanks,

sounds a little shady to me!! If you don't hear anything else, then there probably isn't a problem. It is just too bad he has been making your name bad at all the other sites.
Sounds to me like he is trying to get something for nothing!

Hi,

I would suggest contacting this buyer again to make arrangements to ship it back to you for a refund; however I would not contact him only by email. What I suggest you do, is write a letter to this person and send it to him by way of certified mail/return receipt requested (Bear in mind these are two seperate things one is that the mail gets certified and you get a receipt with the postmark date stamped upon it -thereby proving that you mailed it. The other is a post card attached to your envelppe that the receiver has to sign and the postman then sends back to you - this proves delivery was made.) Or you could send it Registered Mail/Return receipt Requested. Registered mail is more closely tracked than certified mail, and the letter would be signed for by each postal employee who handles it. It is like a chain of custody.

If you do one of these, you will have physical proof that you sent this person correspondence. Registered mail holds up in a court of law. Of course it does not prove what was in the letter, just that you sent a letter or envelope. Still it is much better than simple email correspondence when it comes down to showing PayPal that you did the right thing, and it is the buyer who is at fault.

By the way, who is the buyer - did you post on him in the BOI?

Best regards,

Glenn Bartley

Hey Casey,

I would post your customers name on the BOI because it sounds to me like you have made an attempt to give the money back providing the snake was indeed dead, and this person is trying to pull a fast one on you and make you look bad in the process.  Also if you have the person take pics of the dead animal and have them email you the pics this is also a good way of verufying that the animal is indeed dead.  Just to play devils advocate for a minute, if someone got a dead snake and they didn't really want to handle and pack it on dry ice etc. then a pic ould do because a lifeless body is impossible to reproduce for a pic, no snake will just hang there like a wet dish cloth, just something to think about.

But I don't think he said the snake was dead,  just near death,

maybe the guy was lying and was hoping you would offer a partial refund and allow him to keep the healthy snake.

depending on the price of the snake maybe he just doesn't feel that it is worth the hassel to send it back.

maybe he decided to keep it anyway and try to nurse it back to health.

Of course none of these thinigs gives him the right to bad mouth you.  You made the offer and if he chooses not to take you up on it he has no right to critiscize you.

Do you have an update Casey? has the guy contacted you again? is he still badmouthing you?
