    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah ive seen that guys post before on SEVERAL other forums, and wouldnt you know it, the response is the same every time.All i can do is sigh....
 
I don't think you're giving him his due credit for the contribution he just made to herpetology. He actually figured out that a rattlesnake will strike it's prey and wait for it to die before consuming it. This guy is a genious....he should have that information published to let the rest of the world in on that secret. :rofl:

My vote was for free handling F-tard but I would have liked some other choices such as....

1. a complete waste of antivenin
2. trying to make up for being born with a tiny penis
3. forum troll with his new venomoid
 
Well it basically falls back to personal freedoms in my opinion. As long as a persons actions are only harmful to themselves then more power to them. I have no problem with it. The idiot.

I've given it some thought and here's what I've come up with.

What he does in the privacy of his own home, so long as he is not subjecting someone to harm unbeknownst to them, is all fine and dandy. However, when he starts showing off in public, doing things that were they to go bad would garner attention of a very negative nature, that is quite uncool.

Everytime some dumbass showoff gets hurt playing with a venomous snake or caught having one when or where he is not supposed to, it hurts all of us whether we keep hots or not. It causes harm to us because the guys who make the laws don't generally realize that the dumbasses are the exception to the type of person who generally keeps reptiles, hots in particular. WHEN this assclown gets bit by his bracelet there will probably be a bit of media attention payed to it, bringing into focus a part of our hobby that is NOT conducive to goodwill from the non-herp keeping world.

Yup, it's his right to do just as he pleases. I just wish the need to brag and showoff were not so paramount to him. It does a disservice to all the guys who are responsible keepers of hots directly and all the rest of us indirectly.

He's a cull.
 
Oh I agree completely that what the guy is doing is a discredit to all responsible herp keepers. It also can have a negative effect on our hobby by bringing unneeded attention and legislation. I completely agree.

Yet that brings me back full circle to my original point and principles. I am a personal rights and freedoms advocate. The Government is taking those away more and more everyday. Our legislative system is broke and our society has become grossly flawed. We have a Government that is trying to control every aspect of our existence. The problem is not an idiot being careless with a hot in the privacy of his own home, the real problem is what our so called leaders have done to our forefathers dream.

Our world is no longer about We The People. It is 100% about We The Government and We The Corporations. Look at almost every new law being passed. They are purely for the benefit of the Government, the wealthy vocal minorities and the corporations. At the expense and freedoms of We The People.

Terrorism is not going to bring this country to its knees, our very own government and corporations are going to do that all by themselves.
 
Noone proposed a constitutional ammendment against freehandling hots. We just commented that the guy is a dumbass and when (notice I didn't say if) he gets bit, he'll completely deserve it.

Just curious though, if this guy gets bit will it be President Bush's fault? :hehe:

Yes, I agree that idiocy like this sets a horrible example, largely because other idiots will play follow the leader. On the other hand: if you go to the trouble of obtaining a hot herp, but don't go through the trouble of learning how to handle your snake responsibly and safely, it's your own d**n fault if you get bitten.

It's a shame that we live in a culture which doesn't allow responsibility for the responsible, but instead wants to protect the lowest common denominator. And it's also a shame that the LCD also is generally the Loudest Common Denominator.

I dont know if this is a stupid question, but is it possible that the venom was taken out of the snake? Could that be done? If so, than maybe thats what the guy did and hes just being a smarta$$. i didnt see the picture. it keeps on telling me that its an invalid website, or it doesnt exist.
