In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My mali uromastyx eats great, she comes running when i put food in the cage. She usually eats a mix of greens, and some crickets as a treat once in awhile. The only problem is she rarely goes potty. She will go weeks without going. I have found that if I put some warm water in a basin and let her soak in it for a few minutes she will go potty then....and usually a good bit too. Why does she seem to have a problem going any other time? Could their be something wrong with her inside?

I would not worry, just give her the warm bath every week. We give warm baths to our beardies for the same reason, They often take a big drink also. Make sure your Uro is not ingesting any substrate when she eats, and I do not reccomend that corn cob stuff or the ground walnut, only clean sand or newspaper etc...Good luck.

thanks. i was kind of worried about her. i will make sure she gets a good soak every week. what kind of bowl should i be feeding her out of? I have a low "reptile" dish but she always gets sand in it. i do use sand for her cage by the way. i like it cause it looks natural and its easier to spot clean when needed.

A little sand should not be a problem, it depends alot on how big/old she is. We keep babies on newspaper till they are 4-5" long, then clean sand.

she is a full grown adult. she was actually given to me about a year or so ago. I will see if i can find some sort of dish she wouldnt drag so much sand into...until then i will just make sure to clean her dish before i feed her. She usually seems to do pretty good with eating and not walking all over it first, so thats good, lol. thanks for your help.

I would strongly suggest keeping her on clean pure millet seed. You can buy at specialty wild bird stores. It has great advantages: (1) not only will it not cause impaction but he will snack on it between meals (2) It is very easy to sift and clean and lasts a long time. Also I read that you were feeding greens and an occasional cricket (limit to a couple every two weeks)but if you are not feeding seeds or beans it may be the cause of your constipation. I would leave a bowl of dried beans such as lentils, flax and amaranth in cage at all times. This will provide the necessary roughage and fiber as well as a rounded diet.
