    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I figured I would stir things up with this one.

With all the boa morphs up and down markets.

What has happened to the Swedish line Jungles? I have been seeing tons of Jungle Morphs/Combo hets, a lot of mediocre jungles that are just abberant.

I say all this to say where has the Swedish Jungle line gone. I have project plans with that line and can not find anything that carries that true Swedish Jungle Bloodline. I hope my words do not drive the market up to BS prices. Lol.

What is your take on the current market of Jungles vs Swedish Jungle line ? Which do you prefer and where can I find some Swedish line Jungles?
 
All true jungles are from the Swedish line that was imported by Pete way back when.

As for what has happened to them, it's the same thing that has happened to most widespread morphs in the boa world. Some of them have been bred to really average and below average animals by people who just wanted to make more jungles and didn't care what they looked like. Others, like Steve Ihrig, have been selectively breeding them to make some absolutely incredible animals, but it's all the same bloodline.

I agree with what your saying Chris However, just to piggy back a little, the Swedish Jungles are a bloodline as well as founded in Sweden. IE Kahl Albino, Though Pete was the first to produce it he still maintained a line of his own albinos. The same goes for the Jungles, nowadays I see some great Albinos being turned out some coming from Kahls great bloodline. I see nothing of Swedish lines being carried over into these current blood lines.

Yes I have seen this boa posted elsewhere, however it has a reversed striped gene into it. I am referring to a more classic looking, not to take anything away from this great specimen of a morph. I mean just keeping to basic solid chunky strong clean colored saddles.
 
Joe, I don't honestly know what you're saying as far as the whole lineage deal and Kahl albino stuff. All true jungles originated from those animals imported from Sweden, making them all Swedish line jungles. People use that term just to clarify that they aren't some yahoo calling their striped boa a jungle.

This one has a nice golden color but you cant really tell due to photography skills, but Chris has seen this one in person. He doesn't have the nice rich red tail saddles but i believe that might be because he is 100% het anery.

Chris I believe we are saying the same thing just different explanations, I am saying I
do not see the over all buckskin/yellowish wash of jungles anymore. I don't know if they have been breed so much the gene is washed but it sucks. I see a lot of great striping and patterns maybe it is me but when I go look at original Jungles/supers by Brandle that were imported, geez there is no comparison. That bright tail with the aberrant pattern, the reduction of wash out of some black pigmentation. I dont know I'm no morph specialist and by no means a breeder with decades under my belt so maybe I have it all wrong
 
That animal that Bill posted is amazing and about as golden as a jungle has ever been. I believe the issue is that there was only a very small number of jungles when they were brought in. Now there have been many more bloodlines introduced to the gene, and with all those genes, the original look of that specific bloodline is going to become a bit diluted. The only way you can prevent that is to inbreed the hell out of them, and we all know that's a bad idea. I think you are right, as with all things like that, some of those jungles were carelessly bred and just aren't great looking and some, like the one Bill showed, have been bred carefully and are amazing animals.

I agree 100% Chris !
I think there has been great progress done with the hypos and pastels that has introduced some clean colors to Colombian boas. However I feel like there is so much potential with the Swedish line if re-introduced properly.
 
I can't wait to show everyone my jungle project... Have to wait until all of the boas get here though! :D
