In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Where to start with Delta certification?

Could someone please point to where to start if we're interested in becoming certified to ship through Delta? Though they are almost three hours away one way, I'd really like to have this option available to me.

Thanks for any help!

there will be a $50 fee for them to confirm you are elligable as well. (you must be a legit business was what I was told)

I think it's $60 (and up, depending on distance), now - at least according to the application.
I don't think the legitimate business thing was ever brought up to me. Basically, you have to prove that you are who you say you are, and where you say you are. (Depending on the mood of the person doing the site visits, you may/may not have to show evidence of need for a shipping account...in other words, that you will have things to ship.)

The process is very simple and straightforward. I was done in two weeks - start to finish...and it only took that long because the person was going on vacation & I wasn't available before he left.

They do a site check to verify that you are who you say you are, and where you say you are. (you have to show proof of both, so they know you aren't just meeting them someplace).
When he came here, I was doing something outside, had the folder with my stuff in the truck - we went over everything right in the driveway.

guess Im a little to paranoid and non-trusting for Delta.... they aint gettin in the house. If I dont know you.... you'll never see the inside of the front door.

Like Harold has said, it's real easy. When or if you use them, make sure you have insurance on the packages you send. I shipped a snake one time, and it never arrived at its destination. It was stolen by a Delta employee, so I had to refund my customer his money because I did not insure it.

Well, like I said - we did the whole thing in the driveway...
Took about 15 minutes, because he opted not to use the application I had already filled out :shrug01:

He just wanted to be difficult. LOL

I could see it going over real well... he knocks on my door... and I tell him we have to take care of business on the porch.

They come by appointment...you could always find a reason to be outside when he gets there (that's what I did - I'm not exactly a social, come on in, kind of guy, either)

Glad to hear that, as I'm not either. But this is another shipping option I feel I should pursue despite the fact that people on my property makes me itchy.

I'll have my business license and checkbook in hand.

I'll throw this out there, although I'm not sure if it still applies.

When I got certified it was still free. It was 7 or 8 years ago. I anticipated a need to have that option available, but the need never arose.
None of my customers ever wanted to spring for Dash service. I didn't mind since the airport is a 3 hour round trip for me, but I wanted to be able to if someone requested it.

Back then there was a minimum shipping requirement. I don't know if there still is one today, especially since they now charge to get certified. I don't remember the quantity but it was something like 6 packages in the first year or 3 packages in the first 6 months. It was something like that anyway.
Since I never shipped the first package with them, I'm sure my certification went dead, or was removed from the system, whatever they do in that situation.

Might be something to ask though, just to make sure you're not paying to get certified and lose that money for nothing if you don't expect to use the service much if any.

When I went through the process, that requirement was still in effect....but, apparently, they aren't adhering to it very strictly. I haven't shipped via Delta in nearly two years, and I called them last month to reactivate my account (since I figured they'd have shut it down)...they told me my account was still in good standing, and I could ship anytime.

the lady I spoke with said I had to provide a business license# and since it's just a hobby for me I didn't move forward with it... maybe if I try again I just need to talk to someone else.

In most cases if you give them your soc instead of the business id they will allow that. Im not sure if this situation will or not.

I just went through this last month. Filled out the information on-line and was contacted about 2 weeks later. The site visit cost me $180. It is $3 a mile based on your distance from the airport with a minimum fee of $60. The site visit was rather quick, about 15 minutes. They just need to see that you have what you say you are shipping since the packages are going on a passenger jet, not cargo. I received an email about two weeks after the visit saying I am good to go. You will need a business license number to provide them and they asked for a copy of a utility bill just to make sure you are operating out of that location. Nothing was said about a minimum # of packages going out and I highly doubt the person doing the visit would be able to answer that. In my case, it was a contract company that did site visits for multiple airlines. I have spoken to several Delta shippers who have since gone primarily with FedEx. Few ship the minimum anymore but say they have no problem shipping when they do, suggesting they are not enforcing it.
