In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Which one is scamming? batman3452 or fz1rules??

Was browsing the Fauna boa ads... and saw two ads for '03 hypo male Ronne boas that looked similar. Looked closer - the same! Different prices, different usernames. Hmm.

Care to explain?

I'm taking screencaps right now should whoever is the attempted scammer can't delete it right away.

And if this is the same person with 2 usernames.... my bad but I somehow don't think that's the case here.

I suppose it's also possible that the person from the January ad sold this snake to the person to fz1rules and now fz1rules is reselling (at a discount).... if this is true, certainly my apologies. Please let us all know, it just looks weird to have the same identical snake in two OPEN (ie not marked SOLD) ads.

I hope its honestly the case that the snake has just changed hands a few times.. hopefully someone wouldn't be brazen enough to even use the same ID #! :scatter:

These days nothing surprises me. We will just have to wait and see. Maybe I will call and see what I can find out.

I called the guy from the ad dated Jan-18-2005, and asked about the hypo boa for sale, and he said he sold it, and that the guy that had purchased it had recently listed it for sale for even less. It is kinda odd, but the guy was pretty cool about it. Hope this helps.

Cool. Good to find out something fishy is just actually two different people selling the same snake at different times. PHEW! The original ad should be marked SOLD to avoid confusion.

Lauren they are the same snake right down to the pictures

Hit button to fast as I was saying it's a nice looking snake but people have to take their on pictures of the snake ....some of the ads I see have the same snake with same pics sold by 2 different people ....not really a big deal except when people see that it sorta throws up that red flag :)

Right, that's what I was concerned about, that someone stole the photos from the first ad to try to either scam or sell a different snake and rip someone off. That doesn't seem to be the case, but you're right, to avoid that, people should use new photos ;)

Another Point On Pics

is that the person reselling the item should not use the previous sellers pics without permission. A buyer usually obtains pics prior to purchasing a given animal. What many people don't realize is they only bought the animal but do not necessarily have rights to the pics without authorization from the owner. I know many take this for granted but the truth is in this case unless the person who resold the animal asked permission, he probably didn't have the right to use them.

I understand and agree with not using someone elses pics (even if it is the same animal) without their permission, but using weeks/months/years old pics may no longer accurately represent the animal. Always demand that you get current pics.

Yes, you definitely need to use your own photos, permission or not. Things can change, and the photos need to be updated. I personally wouldn't buy that snake based on that photo, need to have a head shot.

Greg,

You made a very valid point. As a buyer though, I would really feel bad if the previous owner of the snake was still using the pictures of the animal I now own. Sometimes an animal of unusual characteristics is used by the previous owner to advertise the quality of his stock (it has happened). But in reality the situation has now reversed, and he is using pictures of an item he doesn't own anymore. Who should ask permission in order to use the pictures? Technically he owns the pictures, but he doesn't own the snake anymore. If the pictures are used for comercial purposes (advertise the quality of his animals), and thus monetary gains, isn't that some sort of infringement too? When do the rights to use pictures of someone else's animal end? Maybe someone with a better legal background than myself can further explain that situation.

Well, if that were the case, 90% of photos companies use to represent available livestock when not sold on an individual basis would be in question according to that theory. I'd have to disagree even though I do understand the argument. I would have to say the actual photo is the property of the individual whom took said photo as long as the specimen was in his posession when the photo was taken. I do believe however if someone is using someone elses photo of a particular animal to sell it WITHOUT obtaining thier permission this would definately be questionable practice..... Whether they own it or not, its still the previous owners photo.

I was going to post a long boring explaination, but Chris said it as good as it can be said. Basically, If you took the photo, and it was your animal at the time, you have the rights to it, and you can use it to advertise your stock/bloodlines on your site or in ads. That being said, if used in an ad for a specific animal it should made clear that the animal in the photo is not the animal that is being advertised but just an example of the breeders stock. This is often done in situations where the photo is of a specimen displaying a rare color mutation, and maybe the animals being advertized are hets, and you want to show in the ad what trait it is they are carrying and what it actually looks like when they are homozygous for that trait. Another example: Say you want to show potential customers what a neonate (of whatever it is you are selling) will look when it is a older. You can post a pic of an older sibling from 3 years ago (that you decided to sell last season) stating in the ad that pic#1 is of the babies, and pic#2 is of a two year old sub-adult male. As the the person that took the pic of the animal that was yours at the time, you are 100% within your rights to do so. If you try to market the animal as yours you are then crossing the line. The pic is yours, but the animal is not. Looks like I posted a long boring explaination anyway. Oh well.

Well said Chris, and good discussion. My point was based mainly on the copyright infringement laws and the “fair use” concept. If the previous owner is benefiting monetarily (using the picture to raise the price of his stock) by using a picture of an animal not in his possession IMO, and out of courtesy he should ask the current owner of the snake if he is OK with that.

Regards
