    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Which way would be the best design for a rack, for the tubs to slide out length or width wise? Does it matter which way they go? My 28 qt rack slides out width wise and I like it but how would that go for a 41qt or v-70? Which would give more support?

I've seen the 41's both ways and I'm more confident having the shorter end sliding out. When installing long ways (wider end slides out), it depends on how far the shelf overlaps the tub. If it doesn't over lap far enough, the side will flex signifigantly and could cause an escape. You can correct this by using a handle mounted on the shelf above that rotates downward and prevents the tub from bowing. My brother does this setup and I'll try to get pics tonight.

I like long ways. I have both and I prefer the long for the 41qt. Unless you had the heat on the side of a width wise tub there wouldn't be much of a heat gradient. With length wise you can have 1/3 of the tub with heat tape under it creating a nice large gradient.

Thank you. And nice rack, i made my 28qt like that but with plastic shelves. My 28s are width wise but i have the heat same as you would longwise with 1/3 of the tub heated. How much each did the shelves cost for yours? I'm trying to figure out what material would be cheapest for the new rack.

Those are in fact plastic..they are xpvc (expandable pvc, sintra etc). You have to buy from a plastics distributor and the sheet was 4x8 1/2in thick for $96 cut into the sizes that I needed. That only gave me 5 sheets which allowed me to build the 4 high rack. Prices vary a little depending on where you are. I got 12mm thickness which is 1/2in but you could also do 10mm thick which is 3/8 thick and is cheaper by about $15 per 4x8 sheet.

If you like that rack check out this website http://www.blueappleherps.com/page13/page14/page14.html it is the build that I used for it. It required no cutting at all on my part. They did it all for me at lowes.

Good luck!

that's the design I used for mine too, it's awesome lol. I used a different plastic for my last one, I'm still trying to find a place with xpvc. Lowes has never heard of it here and the closest place I found so far is out in PA and shipping is too expensive.
