In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Nice Geckos!

isnt BELLE the RAINWATER albino misleading...?LOL.

just curious... what are some of the traits he said the jungle 16x het is het for?

cause honestly, i dont even think there are 16 recessive traits in leopard geckos... at least not yet. but hey, at least she was free!

p.s. your tang albino male from a & m looks like it might be a hybino/sunglow.

LOL, i think its pretty funny, Belle the rainwater albino...LOL

Originally posted by diablohogs just curious... what are some of the traits he said the jungle 16x het is het for?

he said the parents where direct from tremper, heres a quote about them on john's site

"We were able to purchase a pair of Multi-hets from Ron Tremper. These leos are het for 16 traits including giant, albino, jungle, carrot-head, carrot-tail, four-eyes (head pattern), tangerine, hypo, stripe and a few others! They are the alphabet soup of leopard gecko genetics! We bred the male multi-het to the female multi-het, a carrothead tangerine giant jungle albino and a giant jungle albino. We are keeping six of these to breed back to the father. We're hoping to get a "Super Leo", a giant, tangerine, jungle, carrot-tail, carrothead....This will be a fun 2 or 3 year project as we expect such a large variety of babies from the breedings. "

i also got some goodies from the white plains show but i dont have pics yet but i will post them as soon as possible i got a 1.1 adult N. Levis Levis from Ruben over at Taino Reptiles and i got 1 sole leo a female super hypo tang this show from Alberto and Mary at A&M

Nice geckos Dan!

You should have known you were going to come home with more. It always happens. :D

These leos are het for 16 traits including giant, albino, jungle, carrot-head, carrot-tail, four-eyes (head pattern), tangerine, hypo, stripe and a few others!
I don’t see how you can have a gecko that’s het for tangerine, carrot-tail etc as they aren’t recessive traits. I don’t know about that one. . .

Can't be het for giant either, since it is codom.

Can't be het for hypo either.

Explain to me how it is het for both jungle and stripe as independant traits?

Give an example of a "four eyes" pattern and proof of it being a recessive trait.

I think that we all have to keep in mind that this gecko is het for 16 traits according to Tremper so who knows... :crazy03:

Bear in mind that:

The parents were sold prior to the discovery that giant wasn't recessive

Tremper's hypo isn't a Hines hypo

I seem to remember that several years back jungle was recessive to normal and stripe was recessive to jungle (I think that I read this in one of the leopard gecko articles by Tremper in Reptiles)

The four eyes pattern was squarish pattern of "circle-ish" shapes on the head; I remember seeing this back when Tremper posted his designers individually.

What this means in terms of the traits this gecko is carrying or potentially carrying I don't know. I think that now everyone realizes that the genes producing most of these phenotypes are much more complex than the simple dominant recessive relationship presented by Tremper upon their debut.

I remember hearing a lot about the 16x het geckos as well about a year ago, maybe a bit more. Once again, probably more of a marketing thing, since a lot of the 'het traits' claimed are not actually able to have any hets.

funny

I actually took that whole 16 trait het thing as a joke. Someones probably laughing that some are actually arguing about it. Its clearly ridiculous and I think that was the point!

I would hope free, with a tail that is just starting to regenerate.

I can't believe he'd bring an animal like that to the show. As far as I'm concerned that is an unhealed wound.

yes

tremper does have what he calls a 16 X multi-het , think he sold john those at daytona 2 years ago ! would call it het , but maybe a gene-carrier , since only a few of those are recessive ! i did talk to john about those and he did produce some "four-eyes" and giants from those ......i find it interesting no matter how many traits are recessive ......be a FUN project

yeah, sure, who cares if 14 of the 16 traits he claims they're het for arent even recessive traits.

i mean someone who doesnt know any better deserves to buy one of them....right?

ron tremper is a liar.

when i look at his geckos i have no choice but to look at them at fair market value and ignore all the make believe traits they are supposedly het for. he doesnt even know what the word het means.

16X het.... my ass.

i agree with you there, now that i think about it more, but i also agree with dan, she may jus carry some genes, recessive or not it definatly will be a fun project if she does have some of those genes, we'll see

it just sucks that ron tremper doesnt have to own up to his nonsence.

anyone wannna buy a 32x het*?

its het for eyes, nose, mouth, legs, tail, skinny tail, fat tail, short tail, banded, abberent, yellow, spotted, nospots, orange, rainbow, missing toes, NO missing toes, melanism, stripe, reverse stripe, hypo, super hypo, salmon, spider, albino, pie bald, leucistic, feathers, freckles, invisibility and eternal life.

AND ITS HET FOR TWICE AS MANY THINGS AS RON TREMPERS 16 X HETS!!!!

ACT NOW AND GET A FREE HYPLOBYNGLO A.P.T.O.R. GIANT BLUE ALBINO FOR ONLY $10,000.00!!!!

* WARNING: lepracauns, el chupa cabra, sasquatch, loch ness monster, unicorns, fairies, santa claus, 16x hets and 32x are all make believe. well, maybe not sasquatch.

defining hets

ive done this before... ron tremper mustve not read it.

het is short for the word heterozygous.

heterozygous: when the two allelles of A SINGLE GENE on the locus of a chromozone DO NOT MATCH!

there is not a SINGLE ALLELLE responsible for most pattern mutations (carrot head, tangerine, stripe, bold markings ect..). these traits are polygenic.

polygenic is when many (poly) genes (genic) are responsible. YOU CANNOT BE HET FOR A POLYGENIC TRAIT!

Madde.... Chondrokeeper... back me up.

these definitions are "off the head". i didnt copy these from a book so i may have messed up in the terminolgy. though im pretty sure im right, i welcome any corrections.

hey now

ok ok calm down lol :smokin: backup ? noone here said or agreed that these are in fact hets (just what someone else calls them ) , could be for a couple things i can think of , albino , giant (if it is a non-super giant ) and hypo (if non super hypo) the het form of a incomplete dominant trait ( if you call it co-dom , for short for incomplete dominance and almost everyone does it ! but co-dom and incomplete dom. are two different things ) is also called a HETEROZYGOTE . but otherwise they could carry those genes ! now i know if pretty much anyone had some strong linebred trait( insert here ) going and some of the young did not show as much , they might say or beleive that they could still produce some like the parents , and would make them "gene carriers " ! not unlikely that over time (over 20 years) you could always keep and breed the normals back and just continue that! would end up with probably ugly geckos that carry all of those genes lol your parents are not "het" (well maybe) for your (haircolor) (eyecolor) but they carry genes from your family before you (noone in particular ) how else would you find all of those different traits , patterns, etc within a colony ?

i was only trying to let everyone know where the term 16X het came from . i just got my super-tangerine striped asked ron about those ...................could you explain to me what type of "gene-mutation"(in your words) you super-tangerine is ? (since i am now adding this ) would it be inco-dom , like most believe ray-hines hypo is ? pretty sure ive read you have used no hines line . is that correct ?

I have only let the genes of 4 other geckos into my colony in over 20 years.
I have never owned any of Ray Hines geckos.........he owned mine though.
The condition that makes the tangerine bands expand over the lighter body
bands is a genetic situation. The trait is inherited like a simple recessive
in my experience. Much work has to be done on gecko genetics over the next years. I have many experiments underway to help show how the genes
behave, so I don't have all the answers.
