In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

While looking at another thread this morning, I happened to see that somebody using the KS forums uses the ID of Double D. Since we've never had a KS account and, at this time, don't think we'll ever get one (addressed in other threads) it obviously isn't me. So, my question is...who is this individual? Since we've used Double "D" Reptiles as a hobby name for roughly 5 years now, we've become somewhat used to it and wouldn't want to be changing it. Now, think how a couple of bad incidents from someone else using such a similar ID could affect us and our efforts.

So, if anyone here knows the person in question...would you mind lending an assist? If nothing else, help by putting me in contact with the individual so that possible misconceptions can be avoided down the road.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Ben,
Long time, no chat. Good to hear from you. I saw it while attempting to look at the disappeared thread that Seamus had answered in the Iguana Forum discussed in another thread here on the BOI. Tried to do a direct contact or even an inquiry as to who it was myself, but was blocked. I didn't have time to look further as I had to get around and get to work. They'd seemed to post often enough, so it wasn't just a one time occurence.

David,

It appears the gentlemans iguana is named Double D. That is why he uses that name to post under. I emailed him explaining
you were concerned about some people getting the two of you
mixed and asked him to email me his ph# or email address so I
could pass it on to you in order for the two of you to talk. I told
him you were not upset in any way, just concerned about the mix-ups it could cause. Soon as he emails me back I'll let ya know.
For now anway he appears to be a well meaning iggy owner....

God Bless!!
Ben:)

Thanks. Having had Igs ourselves, perhaps it's named in honor of the students in the danny DeVito Film "Renaissance Man" who had the distinction of being called double D's meaning dumber than Dog$#!^. Certainly describes one or 2 we had along the way at times. Other times, they tended to show an odd amount of cunning and intelligence. Odd creatures iguanas.

Anyway, thanks. You should still have my e-mail, so we can communicate that way.

from what VERY little i know about trademarks, once you've used a name for 5 years, you're able to claim trademark infringement.

I KNOW IT IS MORE DETAILED THAN THAT...

but i just wanted to put that little bit of info out there. if you want to know more, research it or call a lawyer.

only reason i mentioned it is because you said the magic number, 5 years.

possible trademark

Jonathon,
That's an interesting point that I was quite afraid to broach since I know so very little about it. All I knew was that we'd been in our home here for 4 yrs. and 5+ months, had used that particular name when we first began to purchase and sell reptiles sometime during the previous year while in Texas, so it was real close. I know that ir was during our first year here, almost 4 years ago exactly, that I began using Tripod as our freeserve website (just haven't felt we were doing enough breeding on a consistent basis to register for a dot.com or anything.) I can also remember the time it took looking around after we came up with some ideas to choose a name to call our efforts and "work" and the added difficulty of choosing a website name (I know, but wanted something that I should be able to dot.com at a later date) to list under that would still be easily recognizable to people looking for us.

Well, hopefully Ben's got it down and it's nothing at all. I may have jumped without being spurred, but I suppose it's better safe than sorry these days.

Double D reptiles would be a fairly strong trademark but just "Double D" would be fairly weak and I'm affraid you would be fighting an extreemly uphill battle going that route.

I also have no info on the person posting but it sounds like you should be able to work it out. I wish my wife was posting using that name:) I don't see it as being worth the $5000 to be able to add the double though:)

Hahahaha, I crack myself up,

PERSONALLY,

I doubt you could do anything about someone using an identical name. If you were incorporated, that would be a different story if the incorporation was in the same state, but I am assuming that the poster is in another state, and the name is nothing more than a common reference . Be glad your business is not called John Smiths. JERRY TRESSER

Hi David,

I tried to email you with the address off your website but I dont
think it went through.
The girls name is Christy. She emailed me back and said you could
email her if you like ([email protected]). She said shes been using that handle for about 2 years and from what I can tell she has. Double D is her iggies name and she said she got that from
the cartoon show "Ed, Edd, and Eddy". Seems harmless enough.
Give her a email though and maybe something can be worked out/arranged.
Shoot me a email when you get a chance.

God Bless to all!!
[email protected].:)
