In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Wholesaling to vendors and pricing guidelines?

I am up to my ears in incubating dragon eggs. Right now, I have around 80 fertile eggs from my Marketed Leucistics. I am debating whether or not to hatch out all the eggs. My females are still laying and I will be eaten out of house and home if I keep all the babies without a plan in place. ;) This breeding season has been especially successful and my reptile rooms are bursting at the seams with hungry babies already.

I am toying with the idea of wholesaling young dragons to vendors, but I am not certain about the ethics or the pricing guidelines.

The hatchlings in question will be the offspring of 2 100% Marketed Leucistics from Kevin Dunne and 1 100% Marketed Leucistic from Georgia Bearded Dragons. Top dollar dragons from top of the line breeders, but still very spoiled pets. ;) I think there are pictures of the parents on my site (www.sushidragons.com) but I am currently reworking/updating things so I am not certain what state the site will be in at any given moment.

I need to get a better idea of what I'm getting into before I decide how many eggs to keep. I assumed if there was a local breeder that wanted to buy out a clutch that I would sell much younger than the 6" and 8 weeks that I usually wait because they would have the experience and facilities to properly raise them up. But how does the pricing work in this market these days?

IMO, the time to sort out what you are getting into is long since past - that is the step before allowing breedings to take place...before your rooms are bursting at the seams, and prior to having more eggs than you can deal with (especially if that is before the females are done laying).

Let me rephrase- I am currently housing many hatchlings. Not more than I can handle, per se, but I'm getting to the point where decisions have to be made.

I don't know if you breed beardies, but like most reptiles, one mating produces many clutches of eggs. I always incubate the fertile ones if there is room because you never know which ones will actually hatch. Sometimes an egg that seems fertile is not, or the embryo simple doesn't grow within the egg. So, yes, I currently have more eggs than I want to keep so I am looking into options for the hatchlings rather than simply freezing them and throwing them away.

So, my question again, is what are your experiences with wholesaling? I would rather freeze the eggs now while they are still long away from hatching than flood the market with "free to good home" dragons. I have a few interested parties, but I wasn't sure on pricing guidelines, etc. Just looking for input.

The breedings of the dragons (2 females, 1 male) was planned, but the sheer number of fertile eggs is very high. I have had three clutches laid, 2 by the first female and 1 from the second and I am expecting more from them since they usually top out at 3-4 clutches a season. However, 80 fertile eggs from 3 clutches is on the high end for dragons.

Just for a little background on it. :)

pet store pricing you would see about 15 per dragon
private vendor maybe 25 per dragon

there is very little money in the wholesale side unless you breed on a huge scale.

Okay, this has been very helpful! Thanks for the pms as well. :)

I would not "evict" them, I just wouldn't hatch them out. If they have a place to go, I will make sure they are fat and happy before they leave here. :)

As you know Sunshine, raising hatchling dragons is time consuming and expensive so I will only hatch out those that I have the ability to care for properly. The concept of wholesaling is somewhat new to me so I found myself asking here.

There are petstores in my area that would likely take a dragon or two, but they cannot commit to anything specific so I am exploring outside options this season. Thanks to all who have made helpful suggestions, I have a much better idea of how many babies I can raise up this season! :)

I sent you a PM and hopefully it was helpful. If you end up with a good amount you need to move let me know! Good luck to you.
