In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Why don't I trust my instincts?

OK, so, everything ended up working out in the end and the lady was actually very nice about the whole thing, sooooo this rant is now kind of irrelevant. (Though it did serve the purpose, at the time, of letting me vent while still sitting quietly in class!) And I feel kinda bad now for ranting. So, I'm changing this.

Sometimes I have weird instincts on things that I can't explain. For example, I just had a woman have to return a chinchilla to me because she apparently had an anaphylactic reaction to chinchilla fur/dander/something and had to go to the hospital. Totally not her fault, and she was super duper nice, but for some reason I just had this "weird feeling" about the whole deal. (Before she had even emailed me about the reaction.) Like, when I saw that she'd emailed me saying there was a problem, I kind of thought, "Oh," like -- oh, there's that email I was expecting!

This ever happen to anyone else? Like, just a gut feeling that a sale is going to go wrong? (Or, arguably even worse -- a purchase, which, yes, I've had that happen too -- see the BOI)? ... With no real reason for thinking so? ... And then it did?

Yup.

Have you ever heard people mentioning how a dog "just knows". They will go on and on about how dogs have this extra sense that warns them of danger. This is not the case. Dogs simply lack reason. When something doesn't feel right, they can't think about how they're probably just being paranoid or overreacting.

The good Lord gave us this ability as well, although it's a little harder for us to pay attention sometimes. I have been in the middle of sales that just didn't feel right, and thought my way out of it only to regret it in the long run. Now if something doesn't feel just right, I ask alot more questions and get documentation on EVERYTHING!!!!.

I like that theory ... I actually read a whole book that basically said that in many cases, the more we analyze things, the more we end up getting it wrong and screwing things up o_O

Gotta agree with ya

I once had a teacher tell our class that the reason some smart people fail tests is due to the fact that they DON'T go with their 1st instinct on answering questions. Over-analyzing will do it every time. It's like you're arguing with yourself, talking yourself out of the gut-reaction answer. Logic is great, but it isn't always the 'end all' answer, imho.

Been there, done it did it. My decision to not go through with a deal actually helped someone out later down the road. This deal seemed fishy to me and I opted not to send the money but I did keep all the contact information I had for this person. Like a year later someone posted something on the BOI and I was able to provide them the contact information. What that end result was, I cannot remember.

Ohhhhh and it's not even over.

The edit I made? About her being nice, and reasonable?

Nope. Not true at all.

STILL demands the refund for the non-refundable deposit on the animal. Says her "lawyer" said she is entitled to it.

Yeah, sure. Why do people have to suck so damn hard?

This is your first clue that this is a bull hockey artist. Attorneys make several hundred dollars an hour and to have a consult about a dang chinchilla would be more than the critter is worth. And the costs of a trial are often in the thousands and tens of thousands for even a modest case.

She totally lied, and if the deposit is nonrefundable it stays that way even if there are allergies, divorces, nuclear wars, well you get the idea.

Tell her to bring it on, just to see her dance :D

Oh believe me Lucille, I am well aware of this. That's why I'm so damn pissed off -- not because she's being so unbelievably unreasonable, but because she LIED, and lying is something I just cannot stand. (Liars and thieves -- two things I rank just a hair below maggots and endoparasites.)

However, I have neither the time nor mental faculties to deal with a BS artist right now, so since I did get the animal back, I just sent her a check for the stupid $25 deposit and told her to leave me the hell alone. $25 is NOT worth this level of stress. Especially not with a neurology exam on Monday ... o_O

What's really creepy though is that not only did I have a bad feeling about the deal just "because," but I also realized that this woman shares the same first name with two other people in my life who turned about to be totally bats***. It's like the name is cursed ...

Heeeh heh heh ...

Yah, except than then I might hear from a REAL lawyer ... o_O Jeez, I'm surprised she doesn't sue me already for having "exposed her" to this incredibly dangerous animal!

Of course now that I know she's a liar, I tend to wonder if the whole story about having a reaction is even true, or whether she's just trying to use it as an excuse to get her money back for an animal that she decided she didn't like all that much. I mean, it seems like a stretch, but then again I just can't fathom the mindset of chronic liars ...
