As threatened, I am trying an experiment to see if engagement can be created out of thin air where none existed before. I have been posting quite a bit on Facebook, and for what it is worth, I can see the addiction of what the feedback there offers to users. Yes, I believe everyone likes feedback for the words they may pound out on a keyboard, keypad, or phone. Likely everyone LIKES to get a LIKE to indicate that someone appreciates what they are saying. Facebook seems to excel at this. And people get drawn in tighter and tighter, continually trying to post even more to generate the drug they seek via approval from people who they list as "friends".
Will that, CAN that, happen here? Well no. But just so happens I like the forum structure more so than the linear chronological order on Facebook. I like order and structure. I like that threads can be displayed in parallel rather than serial. OK, you have a friend that said something a year ago on Facebook that you would like to find again. Good luck with that. Yeah, you CAN do it, but bring a shovel. You are going to have to do a lot of digging.
So I have two reasons for this forum I have created here. One is to see if perhaps I can lead by example by creating content worth discussions that may or may not be of any interest to anyone else. And two, just because I like this forum structure much more than I like the linear nature of Facebook. And maybe it will give me the excuse to actually try using the internet with my cell phone to see how that works out. I know people have had problems in the past using their cell phones, but honestly I can't help them as I NEVER have used my cell phone for this site nor really anything much on the internet. Truth be known, even with Facebook, I GREATLY prefer using my laptop there rather than my cell phone. After using my cell phone for a while, I can FEEL that it is hurting my eyes. So are there going to be long term negative problems with my eyes (and maybe yours) overdoing it with phone usage. Maybe. Possibly. Probably.
Oh yeah, a third reason. I am a newbie with the new platform too. Perhaps I NEED to get more familiar with it. Certainly it can't hurt, and perhaps I might be able to answer some questions someone has when they just cannot figure out how to do something.
So here it is. Don't expect much and you won't be too disappointed, please.
