• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Why was this closed?

Interesting - I just started a test thread (did not submit it), and the option to close the thread is there at the bottom.
RICH!!!!!!!!!
Actually, the close thread option seems to be available on all the forums...I never really looked for it before, so I don't know if that is something that happened with the server switch or just needs a setting change.

Actually, I closed it. The person who started the thread used the wrong name of the business and asked that I delete it or rename it. I chose to just close it and allow them to create a new one. It appears that one of my mods re-opened it for some reason, so now I have to just remove it.

I prefer not to edit threads and/or topics if possible.

According to the permission set for anyone other than site mods and myself, no, you should not be able to close a thread in the BOI. Other forums, yes, but NOT the BOI. So please test it to see what happens.

Well, I tested it TO A POINT last night...in that I started a new thread, saw that the close thread option was there, and clicked it (and the box was checked) - but that was where I stopped. Today, at your request, I found out that although the box checks when I click it, the thread does not close when posted. The result - there is now an open thread on the BOI entitled, "Fauna Rocks".
