In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Why would somebody...?

I have seen a couple on here for $400... so I am not asking about just one individual. Lets please keep it to what I asked please. This is the reason I don't like to post things is because people get off track and decide to evaluate the situation on their own terms. I asked a question and only want to hear about that question. Thank you for your feedback.
I am actually not interested in purchasing this animal or the other ones at this price at the moment. Just brining up a price.

Maggie,

Here on this site, if you bring up an interesting question, relevant discussion usually is not restricted as long as it is courteous and complies with the site rules. If I write something that is not of interest to you, it may well be of interest to others.

I actually went back to look at your previous posts, saw an ad for a $400 pastel that you had responded to, and saw you in that ad questioning the seller about the price.

I understand that you looked through what I did. But it is actually not really your concern though. I have talked to this guy before... He is a very nice guy and all I did was bring up pricing of not just one but multiple animals from other people. So you can look through all you want but I am saying what I have done... and you can't tell me that I am only talking about his animal.
I asked that we could remain on topic like many of the mods try to remind members who get off track do. So lets please stay on topic.

Then I suggest that you remember that the discussion forums are not the place to discuss sales.....

Regarding the original question - people can advertise/sell their animals for whatever price they want to put on them. If they sell, does it really matter if a third party thinks that price is too high? If they don't sell.....well, then that is for the seller to contemplate.

And the truth shall set you free.. As well; some people are paid well and care less if that snake sells or not. If you have quite a few pastels and one is acting like a fader line; do you toss it for a dollar twenty five?? I don't. I don't have to; I am well paid in the ventures I am already involved in..

Now; directly to you Mag.. You are a nightmare!!!! See that red dot; focus on how to stop getting stuff like that... Hence my not responding to you ever again... I'm gonna call you a drama queen nightmare on a public forum and drop it at that.. And; that's being sweet of me.. Breed and buy your own; some people can't stand those looking for free stuff all the time and handouts as if I owe you something.. Gets old and red dots appear obviously; ya get it... Be good young lady??

Personally its the sellers prerogative if he wants to sell whatever snake he has at whatever price he wants. I don't have to look at the ad to know who you are speaking of and happen to know he doesn't mind keeping her if she doesn't sell, so its no loss to him. I will be pricing my snakes based on what I believe they are worth. If someone tells me I can get that morph for less from somewhere else. Know what ill tell em? Good, go buy from them! Some people spend high dollar on high quality morphs, whether its a pastel, spider, mojo, etc and in return want to see the fruits of their labor. I can see where you can be frustrated at this but honestly I feel this rant is uncalled for and you are speaking about a well known and respected person in the reptile industry, especially locally. You wanna be careful about who you offend, some of the locals here are ruthless and will put you on their dnst list (do not sell to) and tell others to do the same and they will listen. Not trying to be harsh, so don't take it that way, just giving advice. Sometimes its better to keep your mouth shut than stand up on a soap box.

Absolutley stand up my Wikidkitty!!!! Thanx a ton!!! Maggie; you have solidified your spot on the floor with quite a few based on previous convo's with you ma'am... Good luck in life!!

And I thank you tenfold Miss Lucille; and you know why!!! Much love!!!

Later on today; after I'm done pulling my weight; I'll post some pics of a $400 pastel and a $125 pastel.. Just in fairness.... May take 48 hours as well... Lot on my plate.. Thanx to all though.. I don't do snakes for money; just fun; I always say I do it for my living room and bedroom; I only keep the finest!!!

Ok, so I have seen some ads for a pastel. This is a 2010, 400 +/- gram female and the asking price is $400! Is it just me, or is that a pretty ridiculous price? Why would you ask the price of a super pastel, albino, or bumblebee when it is just a pastel?
What is your input?

Well, my personal opinion is that any seller has the right to price their animals at whatever price they want. They are the ones who have put the work and money into taking care of said animal, or they have personally picked the pair that produced said animal, and again, have put the work and money into caring for that animal.

If you see someone else selling something you like for less money, then jump on it. But don't gripe about someone asking what they feel is a fair price on their animal. Just move on and find one in your price range.

I also totally have to agree with that a good pastel is worth their weight in gold. I am currently sitting on two ugly pastels and have spent 2 years trying to find a pretty one. I would gladly pay $400 if there was a pastel that was to my liking.

I can say, from my own personal dealings with Mr. Pecanic, that what you see in his pictures is not what you get. What you get is something much, much better...not only in the quality of the animal, but also in customer service.

Can I ask you something? Did you ever go see this animal in person?

I believed from the getgo the OP was talking about a particular critter she saw advertised.
I'm not trying to be a wet blanket, but while I think that comparative pictures and all are fine, we are kind of on the edge of talking about a Good Guy (that would not be the OP) and I'm thinking that belongs on the BOI.

Just my two cents, it is sometimes difficult to tell when a conversation travels from the general to the specific, exactly how to characterize it.

Excellent truthful post Tere!! I appreciate!!

All I can say is, you get what you pay for! If you care nothing about color, patterns, browning-out, health, mites, bad/NO customer service, possibly not receiving an order at all, you should be comfortable buying from anyone that has the cheapest animals out there. If you want quality traits for selective breeding, someone that stands behind the animal's health and your satisfaction, you might have to pay more. Personally, I'll take the latter scenario any, and every, day!!

No problem Tom. She already has quite the track record locally. I recently found out some stuff about her and a snake she sold. As soon as I heard that she went onto my list. The best thing she can do now is to be a better person and apologize, then drop the subject. Also, think next time before doing something rash.

I'd accept an apology for sure; not gonna lose sleep
over it or hold my breath.. El o el. I would like to especially thank the magic moderator that removed her posts from my thread; that is really appreciated as well!! I ain't nobody special; I accept this; but the righteousness of some make me laugh til the tummy aches..

Back on topic, which is, as I see it, top dollar critters.
Maybe it's been mentioned already, but really good breeders often have costly setups, take their critters to the vet, feed good food, and so on.

But even with all that, there are simply differences between critters that have to do with the quality of the critter itself. And to some, that is worth it. I'm not downing those who are happy with a $20 BP, to someone, his little pet might be the best no matter what it looks like. But if you want quality, it shows and it costs.

Wow. Thanks guys! You are really being nice.. And I am not sure what snake you are talking about.. I have only sold one snake and things were figured out and I have not talked to the buyer since because I was misinformed of the animal that I had purchased. He agreed to move on and he should do that. You either keep the snake or sell the snake. I didn't mean to do any harm to anybody but when my mom says that I can't take the snake back then I unfortunately can't do a thing about it. I am also not sure why I would got onto your "list" just because I made a mistake and it was then out of my hands doesn't mean that I can't take care of an animal... All of my animals are loved and cared for just like all of you. I only have a few so that I can give each the attention that they deserve and I don't breed multiple animals.

Tom, I am sorry... I guess your ad was the first that I saw but definitely was NOT the only one I was referring to. I have seen pictures of your snakes and I think that all the ones you have posted are beautiful! I guess I should just leave it alone next time... I just see so many others ask questions like these but for some reason I always get chewed up.

Kelley, You can private message me if you really feel the need.

I understand the speculation but didn't see where you were ever mentioned by name. This is getting way off topic, be careful folks

Thank you for bringing that up.. I mentioned to Lucielle that Tom was not the only person that I have seen have a pastel priced like that. I never said names, never gave links for that specific reason... One of the people assumed on this thread, told Tom that I was targeting him and then I get chewed up for asking a simple question.
I even said earlier and I told Tom that his snake was beautiful... All of his snakes are. but I guess that we find it necessary to pick at all the negative things. Oh well!

You just made my 'do not do business with' list. While I think it is important to do what your parents say if you are a minor (are you a minor?), if I am dealing with a buyer or seller and something comes up wrong, I do not want to have to worry that the transaction will not be decided by common sense or fair play, but by their mother.
