In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Wes, somewhere up there I think I saw you say that you are going to be a non participant.

Pacts can be made. Perhaps under their username, those who choose not to participate can somehow notate that fact.
If you leave you gun in its holster, others may choose to do the same when dealing with you.

The point of this whole exercise is not necessarily to mete out justice in a specified manner, nor to shoot people down at the slightest infraction, it's to stop the volume of whine-o-grams to Rich and for all of us together to somehow make this community the way we want it to be..
The problem with pacts is you have to have trust on both sides.

I don't have that trust for you or many others who, I suspect, would love nothing more than to see one so "depraved" as myself removed.

Interesting that you mention whine-o-grams. Have you ever tallied the number you've sent yourself? I know on TRR, in the short time you were a member there, you set an alltime record.

I thing the Inquisition analogy is most apt. There are some here who want to force THIER views and ways of doing things on others.

There is no chance, no option, no possibility of those being forced to do anything but change or be removed, to convert or be killed.

It's NOT the Wild Wild West where you faced one another man to man and shot it out, it's an Inquisition were gangs of weaklings are going to attack those with whom they do not agree with and hit them over and over until that person is gone.

Like Kevin, if it comes to that, to the point that I am removed without the chance to defend myself with honor and dignity, I will simply stay gone.

Attacking in a group, with those alongside me being the same lackwits I would not drink amoung or vouch for nor choose as allies or comrads, has no favor with me and I'll not be a part of it.

Maybe the point here needs to be:

Accept what happens on the board and stop whining about it to Rich!!! For those that don't whine good for you, for the rest, well lest see how like the fact that the people your complaining about are now able to "punish" you too.

I think it's pretty simplistic to believe that people will let go of a chance to dink individuals that they simply don't like the manner in which they post. I mean if you read the threads now the little fighting is ongoing. And its pretty short sighted for someone to believe that just because someone else is passive with the warning that they will be too.

Anyone want to take bets on who is the first out, also a good bet is who is the first to shoot from the hip??

So Wes, are you saying that you favor the Outback Methodology ("NO RULES, MATE") here instead?

Yes. I'd rather fight no holds barred than with both hands tied behind my back whilst midgets dance upon my skull.

If there is no way to remove points given, then it is, eventually, a one way ticket off the site.

If there are those you really want off, be the king and kick them off. If you really don't care what happens, the stop pretending to care.

Rich:

If its that much work - and more importantly that much hassle - why continue to subject yourself to the stress?

I don't see the new system as better - per-se, but I'll bet it does nothing to improve the present status of the board nor your stress/frustration level.

I understand the philosphy behind starting the BOI and it is a useful tool that I have used many times.

But at this point in time - now that Fauna has become well, the monster that it is (and I mean monster in terms of proportion/scale) why not hand over the reigns to someone else? And by that I mean - sell it. Get something for your hard work and aggrevation and be a participant rather than the disillusioned leader of the misfit toys.

I do not believe that. You were gone once, and you are here.
I believe this experiment will entertain briefly but that those who are thoughtful will learn from experience that rules are not such a bad thing.

I forecast that when the educational experience is complete, the slate will be wiped clean once again, and you and everyone else will be back.

It means you should probably download the latest version of the Firefox (2.0) web browser which has a built in / automatic spell chicker that works on most internet forms and forums where you are inputing text. :D

Evidently it doesn't work. :)

Yeah it does, to an extent. You have to pay attention to the little red lines. of course it is only as good as the associated dictionary and it totally misses "inputing" which should be "inputting".

Well just my opinion but why not leave well enough alone. From what I can see the biggest complaints have been the constant changing of the rules.

Here we go again and 3 - 6 - 9 months from now we'll be here in a thread like this discussing the next change in the rules.

Rich I can't imagine that this new idea will lessen the number of whine o grams you receive if anything they will double or triple. You will again put up with it for a while then along will come the next new idea.

I've never complained about how this site is run and I've been here for a few changes. I've always felt that what the hey no biggie but I guess I'm starting to feel like some of the other long timers here,, make up your mind and stick with it your never going to make everyone happy so stop trying!!!...

Assign more Mods if you need more but giving the keys to the inmates has never been a good idea..... Look how many are just anticipating their new power and who they can dump on..Randy

Hey Wes,
You had better clean up your act or start looking for a new place to play.
You're the one wearing the big target here.

Have a nice day Wesley.

Says the man who is currently being watched through multiple scopes......

My thought? Who cares? Rich, do as you want as it makes no difference to me. If enough people want me gone then why would I want to be here to begin with?

Screw it, I say, but get off the pot and get the game arockin...... Life is too short to be worried about Fauna.

Quite honestly, Wes, if you wind up getting half of the points required for the fine & suspension (let's say 500 out of 1,000) don't you think you should take stock in yourself and perhaps self analyze the track you are on? When you begin to think that everyone is crazy except yourself, maybe it is best to do a re-evaluation of your own self.

Seriously, if a majority of people here are dinging you with warning points, don't you think that SHOULD be telling you something significant about yourself?

Well, whether or not this makes things better remains to be seen. But right now, this interests me to try it. If people prefer sites that are stagnant and never changing, well, I'm sure they can find them easily enough. Certainly you can't say that it is boring around here.... :reddevil:

Actually a while back someone did offer to buy this site from me. They offered me $1,000. When I declined, they then offered $5,000.  I think my replies of just laughing at them probably pissed them off. :shrug01:

Did they want a payment plan?

LMAO Scott......

Rich as is often said it's yours to do with as you will. I have no problem with that but you know of a good many who do. I guess the trick is to just ignore those who whine to much...Randy

I almost never get dinged. This isn't about getting dinged. It's about some with scores to settle who will now have a way to do so with impunity.

Of course I'm a big target. I say what I mean and in such manner as to get under the skin of those to whom I am speaking. It works.

How many times have I been wrong?

How many of those whom I have been right about do you think would hesitate an instant if they had a chance to zing me, knowing that their cohorts would be doing the same?

But it's not just about me. You're going to see the ugly side of people. The not so nice side. The side that many of them don't really want to admit having.

I like fauna, but as Griz says, I can surely live without it.

This is a mistake, this Inquisition you're starting.

Got a pessimistic streak, eh? ;)

If you don't violate the rules, you don't get dinged. If someone abuses the system, then quite likely they may get themselves dinged MANY times over. With any luck, this will become a self regulating system. After the rough edges get worn away, of course. Members who wish to effect a change by strictly enforcing the rules will now have the ability to do so. Those who don't care, don't have to make any effort, just as they are now doing. If someone does get enough warning points to get booted, then I can't see how logically anyone can realistically claim the SYSTEM is bad.

Mistake or not, I'm going to try it. I'm sure you know by now that I have never been afraid to try something simply because a handful of people claimed gloom and doom if I did. I have heard those same claims for EVERY change I have ever made here, including rolling back changes.

Truth be said NO ONE here has any better idea than I do what the results will be because as far as I know, NO ONE here has ever tried something like this. So I can't see any reason to weigh someone else's GUESS any more so than my own.

Seriously why are people so afraid of change? I kind of enjoy mixing it up now and again. And how many people here openly admit that they are here mostly (if not SOLELY) for the entertainment value? Well maybe I can kill two birds with this one stone.

We shall see............

Was reading up on Karma and came across an interesting post.

From Webslave on 12/22 in the Karma thread
But think about this, suppose there was a merging of the karma system AND the warning point system? If a member was at risk of getting fined and suspended if they sufficiently pissed off many of the people here with their postings, perhaps they would take notice, eh?

Does the change mean that Karma is going away?

And any I idea when the change is going to take place?
