• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I think I am having a 70's Saturday morning TV flashback! And it's not a happy one.

i dont think the green bars are going to work so much. But i do like the orange ones in the normal forum section. Gives it a nice... 3D look. :p

I think a brownish and tan scheme might look kinda cool actually...

I like the brown/bronze color as well if it matters.
You sure do seem to be having great fun with this :)

Too late to retract that admission now.....we've all seen it.

I dunno about the link but I definitely think we're in for it after last night's palette

It occurred to me today, about point systems: certainly with the power to kick us out til fines are paid, there is some incentive to pay mind to this new point system.

But there is nothing to prevent us from creating our own point system, and awarding good (or funny) points and accolades to those who deserve them.
We do not have access to the system so we can't track them, but we can certainly give out points, awards, and all manner of good things.

I have a question about this new point system. What happens when say a few members give warning points just because they don't like a certain person? I understand being able to give the warnings if they are needed.I do not think its fair because someone feels they do not like you. With this reason only how is that fair to have to pay fines when infact you never broke any site rules? Thank You

This is the crux of the problem as I see it.

Say it takes a long time, 2 maybe three years even, of people giving you points because they didn't agree with something and you finally get booted and are faced with two options.

1) Pay a fine and come back

2) Stay gone

There is no way to "fire back" so to speak at those who wish to zap you. There is no way to defend yourself agains snipers.
The "guidelines" are arbitrary enough that even a clod such as myself could argue either side of an issuance of points and make a valid enough presentation that doubt would be present in sufficient quantity that a truly neutral advisor would be hard put to decide in favor of one side or the other.

It's a one way street.

It's a Spanish Inquisition.

Come on Wes. You sound like the end of the world is coming. Impending doom or something. You really think that this change will actually empower people that much?

Not really, it's just that in the aggregate it is a distinct possibility.

I also don't like being shot at without the ability to shoot back.

It's not about me personally. I simply don't like this and haven't since Rich started hinting about it.

As I've said, I don't get dinged that often, and those who do are generally gone within a few weeks anyway.

It's just got a lousy taste to it and it is going to permiate the entire site.

I can see your point of view. I like to be able to fight back if needed also. Perhaps I am just trying to have faith in the people who inhabit this community. :shrug01:

I am sure there will be some amount of abuse, but when that's made aware, the abuser faces the same possible dilemma. Perhaps that will have some leverage in keeping those who would abuse the system in check.

I am hoping anyway. I think self policing communities can be very effective if used properly.
