    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

going to shows or as a vendor ? With rumors of what gas prices will be going to very soon and in my home town the price of gas is at $2.20 now, I was wondering if this will effect anybody of the above. I have already heard of some no shows and cancellations due to the gas prices.

Thanks.

Probably not but I don't go too much further than 180 miles away. I can usually do the round trip on a tank of gas.

The gas prices won't keep me from shows. I'm even closer to where the all ohio reptile show takes place in columbus, so i am set. I can walk there in 15 minutes, if that...

I think the gas prices will definitely affect the shows. A lot of the vendors don't make much profit at them as it is.
I know several of the vendors I have talked to about the Raleigh spring show aren't going to come because of the gas prices and too early in the year.
I know the gas prices will be affecting all of my activities.

I was planning on several shows this year;
For sure;
A. 1 trip to either the spring Pomona show or the new (venue) Del Mar show.
B. Trip to the Sacramento Show.
C. Trip to the Anaheim NARBC show.
=3 "for sure" trips

possibly;
D. Trip to the show I didn't attend above (pomona or Del Mar).
E. Trip to the Victorville show (San Bernadino County Fairgrounds)
F. If I did "A" and "D" a last trip in late summer venue of the spring show I liked best.
=3 possible additional trips.

These were planned a month or two ago, when gas here was about $1.97, it's now $2.37 if it hits (projected)$3.00 a gallon I will be definitely cutting at least the 3 possibles, and maybe even one of the "for sure". :bawling:

Each trip is a minimum 500 miles. So the reduction in trips not only takes into account the increased cost of the actual trips, but the 50% increase in cost of all my driving this summer, as well as the AZ trip next month. So I don't know what the surveys say, but it will be affecting my year.

The gas prices will definitely affect all areas of our lives. We are going to have to cut back on any luxury expenses. All of our living expenses will be going up. Food, electric, water, etc... Travel for myself will be a minimum. What used to be a casual trip to a major city to shop will be out of the picture. I plan to buy necessities only and pray we will have enough money for everything else. :rolleyes:

I would skip out on the Del Mar shows and hit the Victorville show, it has been a great show in the past and keeps getting better with time. I prefer doing the West Coast Reptile Shows over the other shows in CA.

I had planned to go to the Raleigh NC show next month and had planned it since the Fall show since I didn't make it but it now looks like it will be totally out of the question since I had not planned to buy anything just look and see what all there was to be had lol

I did want to go to check out a new bird for my son but we found a local breeder that is going to hand raise one so with gas soooo high it just doesn't make sense to go window shopping :(

Economy car...

I have a car that is good on gas and I try to combine these trips with other things such as a large rodent order to save on shipping. I also usually have a car full of herpers! Here in Texas we are used to travelling! :bolt01:
