In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Will it be ok???

Thank you all so much, he seems to get getting more active and stronger day by day!

I have him in a tiny dark tub just a little smaller than a show box with a shallow water dish that he has been laying in and drinking from. He has a hide and also has a heat pad under him.

I am worried about the very empty flat belly though..

Big question is how long does it take them before their first shed???

Amanda

Thank you Steve, I needed that lol, good pics too. You got yours to live, am I doing things right with the heat and small tub ect..?

Any tips at all let me know! I already lost the Albino :( and DO NOT want to lose this guy/girl!

Yay Momma is a proven het!!

I've also had a tiny little one that survived. Do you have a pinky pump? just in case he doesn't eat on his own, you can get pump a pinky into him every 5 days until he gets the idea to eat. Normally, I wouldn't suggest force feeding for awhile, but he's just too little to go very long without food, especially since he didn't absorb his yolk.

If he were mine, I'd wait till after he sheds and offer a small live mouse hopper. Wait a couple days and offer again. If he gets lethargic I would pump in 1 pinky wait 4-5 days and offer a live hopper again. I would keep up the pinky pump feedings but continue to offer live food before resorting to the pump until he decides to eat on his own.

I think the little guy will be fine. Like people have said, don't stress the little guy out. Good luck.

Awww, what a precious baby. Keep faith Amanda! I think he can make it, and by the sounds of it he does have the will to live. That is the most important thing. Keep us posted :)

Thank you guys, he does seem like a fighter so far. And I have high hopes for him..

Thank you very much Melinda, I appreciate it..

Can someone tell me about how long or how many days it takes them to shed for the first time?

They usually shed their first skin within a week of being born. Glad to hear that he's/it's doing a little better. Sounds like he's in good hands. :)

Thanks John, he is still kickin' seems he gets stronger daily. I'm just nervous and waiting on its shed to find out if he will ever eat on his own.. I'm really worried about that part.
I know I shouldn't have done it but I already fell in love with little guy, I tried not to YET! But too late lol.. he/she is too cute!

Weird...gaining weight through osmosis? lol... at least she's drinking then?

Amanda,
Make sure that you're keeping her tub more humid that you normally would. I usually put my hatchlings in a 6 qt tub with a damp paper towel, in addition to their water bowl. The tubs I use for hatchlings don't have near so many ventilation holes as the others because I've noticed taking more than a week to shed if they aren't moist enough. The ones I keep under the above described conditions normally start the process within 4-5 days.

Good luck!!

Yeah she/he drinks alot, I've seen that.

Thanks, as for it having humidity well it never gets dry in there. It is in a very small tub with wet paper towels with a very small screen hole in the top of the lid, when I open it up water drips off the lid so it has plenty of humidity :D

It definitely should shed any day now. Have you been able to see any cloudiness in his eyes yet?
