• Responding to email notices you receive.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Win 7 reload..

I'm reloading apps gradually to see if one of them is causing the problem. First loaded in the OS and all the updates (SP1) and ran it that way for a while. Now have the anti-virus loaded in. So far so good. Going to load a few more apps in tomorrow.

I actually started doing a backup image, but when I got to the third CD, with more to go, I abandoned that idea. It will be just as long as running the install from scratch. Plus I don't have to stand around swapping CDs.

Anyway, we'll see what happens. It might be the Acronis backup software I was loading in as one of the first apps. It's about the only app that I haven't installed on my laptop but put on my desktop.

So we'll see.....

it faster using a usb hard drive that what I use when I did mine it wasfaster pop in the os disk start the restore go eat lunch or something come back it all done. Now I amitt that outside of antivirus( avg), WOW, and my dvd ripping software I don't have much on the pc.

I'm kind of a software junkie. LOTS of programs of all types. It will take me weeks to get everything back on the system. Heck, with all the online updates and crap, just finding all the update files can be a pain. Particularly troublesome is when you have a program that you purchased many years ago and then had literally dozens of downloaded updates over the years that REQUIRES the original disk and all subsequent updates to get to the latest version. Luckily that isn't the problem it used to be just a couple of years ago, but I still run into it now and again. I have a rather large folder just for downloaded programs and updates that I have to keep on a separate drive. And honestly, sometimes finding the original install CD can be a real chore around here.

And did I mention serial numbers? I have to admit that entering in a 50+ series of letters and numbers is really not my idea of fun. I guess if I was smart I would put all of them into a text file. Microsoft seems to be the worst as their serial numbers are getting smaller and smaller (font size) all of the time. I now need a magnifying glass to be able to even read the darn things any more. And is that a numeric zero or an uppercase "O"? An upper case "I" or a lower case "L"? Is that a "B" or an "8"? :ack2:

lol wait until you find a progam that no longer supported and you can't get windows 7 to run it in any mode lol. I got a bunch of dos/windows 9x games I can't even install cause it impossible ot get to work right. I guess I need to get an old windows ME machine and rn it for older games I liked.

Heck, I just donated a bunch of games that only run on the Voodoo chip set to Goodwill...... That's just par for the course with computer stuff.
