    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Wish me luck

LOL It's all with love. I call all mine my little girls and little guys, like kids.

There are several reasons why a male's hemipenis can prolapse:

1.) over use
2.) residual fecal/urate matter in the vent
3.) solidified sperm plugs in the vent
4.) large fat deposits around the vent
5.) injury to the hemipenis
6.) straining while defecating
7.) too young to breed

Soaking them in a few inches of warm sugar-water (must be thick and syrupy) several times a day can help greatly, or using Karo Syrup or honey directly on the hemipenis. Preparation H applied a few times a day can also do the trick to get it to shrink enough for it to go back in.

You are doing the right thing by keeping him isolated from any females and placing him on moist paper towel. You might want to keep him away from the girls for a few months after this problem is resolved.

Good Luck!

Thanks you for the information Marcia! :)

I don't plan on him being with any females this year, at all after this. I'll just retire him for the year for some R&R and we'll try again next year.

Update!

He's home and doing fine. Every thing is in it's place, no amputation needed. :) He's got three stitches, that will be taken out in about two weeks. Just need to keep an eye out for infection, or for it to prolapse again. He's spread eagle in the bottom of his tub, think he's a little tired, poor little guy.

Marcia, I thought you'd like this one. When the vet's assistant went over everything I asked for some Hills A/D, just in case he is stressed enough where he won't eat, I'd figured I should have everything on hand for your slurry. The vet came in after the assistant came in with the A/D, he saw it and said I know what that's for. My new Herp Vet swears by your slurry Marcia!

WOW what a 24 hrs you have had !! I'm glad to hear he's doing better now :) I definately had a few good laughs out of these posts too LOL

And to think Friday the 13th is just any other day....Not this one! AARRRGGG I just realized what the date was at 11pm. LOL

I definately had a few good laughs out of these posts too LOL

I had to laugh about all this too or I was going to cry. I freaked out when I noticed it. And it didn't help when I got to the emergency room when a 17 year old girl ran out screaming you are not going to kill my dog. Her Burmese Mountain dog was run over by a car and there was nothing they could do for him. She was so upset. She asked if I had a cig and ran out the door, I fallowed her and helped her as much as I could that she didn't want her dog to suffer. She calmed down and walked back inside with me. I was in tears at this point. She just kept saying but he's only 3 yrs old he can't die. A sad way to have to grow up all in one night. It's sad but all of us animal lovers go thru it at one point, we love our animals as our children and we do the best we can. Sometimes they are dealt a bad hand and we have to be strong and say good bye. We take them into our homes and love them, knowing that one day they will break our hearts.

Felicia, I know what you are going through. I had a male prolapse for the first (and hopefully last) time this past fall. It was very stressful on both of us. After 3 days of soaks and prep h treatments it retracted. I hope your "little fella" makes a complete recovery.

Thank you very much Jeremy! I think he will be just great. I've got to keep that positive attitude! :)

I'm happy he's doing better! Poor fella... and poor you! Keep us posted!

Thanks for telling me this, Felicia! I'm very glad to know the slurry is being used successfully for so many! Someday, I'll post the story of how I came up with the recipe.

Ya you should sell your slurry to people. Just freeze a big cube and shiip it i na gecko box with dry ice. Good to hear your gecko is doing better.

Damn, I thought Friday the 13th was over! I just got home a little while ago, and decided to check on the little man before I went to bed. It's half way out now. I though for sure with the three stitches there would be no way for this to pop out again! Since there is pee in his tub I guess that did it. ARRRGGGG

Just talked to the vet, told me to put some vasaline on it and keep his tub damp and to call back early in the morning and let him know if it's still out. He said since the passing of the urine did it, and it's only half way out, that it may go back on it's own. And he'd hate to mess with it and make it more irritated than it is. So now I guess I should try to go to sleep and set my alarm to get up early. I will most likely fall asleep 5 min before the alarm goes off. I don't think I can sleep now.

I delt with a prolaspe for the first time(and only so far-thank God) in a young male that was always housed alone- last year and the sugar water soaks and the prep h took care of it in about 2 or 3 days and he was fine
Keeping him on moist paper towels is a must
Good Luck with this guy
:D
Sandy

Wow, this guy is having a real hard time huh? Hope you dont have to re-name him "Choppy" :smash:

Update!

LOL Choppy, no I'm not planning on changing his name! LOL

However, he's getting snipped today. ARRGG. We both agreed that it was probably best, not knowing what kind of damage there is to the one side and that it would even work. (Don't want to be wondering if he used the working side when I breed him next year. Not to mention the added work for the females I breed him with will have to produce eggs that may not even be fertile.)

The biggest deciding factor was that we didn't want to risk his health, by allowing this to continue. So I will be taking him in a while to go meet the "chopping block" (that ones for Dan). The Dr will do it today and stay with him all night, and I'll be able to pick him up tomorrow afternoon.

One option was too actually sew one stitch right thru the hemipenes to insure it wouldn't come out but there are draw backs to that, infection, cut off of blood supply and not to mention PAIN! As all the men reading this cringe I'll end it here! LOL

LOL, Pass Out!

Yeah I'm hoping this will keep him from suffering any more pain. He was acting as if he was in pain, when applying the Prep H on one side of the hemipenes. I can't imagine what the poor little thing has been feeling, but it can't be fun. This way it's all over and the healing can begin. And if he gets to breed next year then that's good too.

I can't wait to pick him up tomorrow. I miss him already. My rack has an empty space where a tub should be. :(
