In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So, I happened to see an ad posted recently for womas that talked about how woma x woma breeding produced the "pearl" ball python....from what I have heard, no one who has produced these has been able to get one of these to survive.

Has anyone heard of one of these actually surviving, and who has it? :shrug01:

I guess regardless, if these babies don't survive (even if it's "only" 99% of them that don't survive)....I mean, isn't that perhaps telling us that these aren't meant to be bred together? And to purposely breed babies that you know are very likely going to suffer and die...WHY? :(

You are correct, I am unaware of anyone who has a surviving super woma (aka pearl).

Edit - found the ad you were referring to. Isn't it ironic that our friend's "selling point" is that woma x woma = pearl and when he's challenged about it says:

Not true, dont believe everything you read.

I would would agree with that statement, because I don't believe anything that I read from him.

Isn't it ironic, that apparently, only this seller is aware of surviving pearls, but is using this as a selling point?

Pony up - who's got surviving, thriving pearls? That would be HUGE news.

I inquired about a woma for sale on Kingsnake and when they responded they sent me picks of what they called super womas saying look what you can produce. here isthe pic

Those are not super womas.
The super is a pearl. NERD was the first to produce it. Pearls are a patternless grey/silver/bluish animal. Really stunning.

Jerry - who told you that those were "super womas"?

Neat looking animals....but not pearls, for sure.

A pearl will not survive.
woma x woma will produce a pearl that dies.
Only when woma x another morph is bred does the hidden gene react. That is not a super woma. A super woma aka pearl is woma x woma. No other morphs added into the mix.
You cannot breed straight woma x woma and produce a pearl that lives.
C'mon ED, I asked you straight out WHO has a pearl. Why is it that the womas YOU are selling will make a pearl that survives when bred together but ALL other womas when bred to another woma produce pearls that die?

How many Pearls have actually been produced though? If it's only been a handful, is it possible that they were just weak? Maybe with enough out crossing their could be Pearls that are strong enough to survive?

Not very many. They all died even with assist feeding. They come out messed up and are just not strong enough to live.
I'm not even sure if combos are still living. A few woma lessers were bred in 2006 and produced lesser pearls but I don't know of any updates since then. They may not have lived either.

And this is what NERD has to say about the pearls:

For unknown reasons, the homozygous Pearl is a weak gene & these animals fail to thrive due to inhibited motor skills.

I know this thread is old, but i was wondering if anymort light has been shed on this topic?? Ive heard woma x woma isnt fatal. Its the HG woma x HG woma that creates the pearl which is fatal. Would be interesting to know if its just the hidden gene womas that have this issue because regular woma x woma maybe wont produce a pearl but in turn could still produce a snake thats interesting, yet not fatal.....im only speaking out loud here not stating any facts only what ive heard

Back when this thread was started NERD thought that they had regular womas that had a "hidden gene" because everything was coming out funky. So when these "womas" were bred together, pearls were created and failed so people were beginning to think that regular womas were the ones with the fatal super.

Then NERD announced that the "Hidden Gene" was a morph in itself, the name stuck, and come to find out that regular womas are Dominant, hidden genes are codom with a lethal super, and everybody wanted hidden genes. That's kinda it in a nutshell, please correct me if I'm wrong or if you would like to elaborate.

Guys from what I understand about the Woma gene is that it is homozygous lethal. which means the double expression aka super form aka Pearl will fail to thrive & die. Now I have a lovely Woma combo a Lesser Woma, but never tried for the super.

I used to raise Holland Lop rabbits & they have a dwarf gene that is homozygous lethal. The double dose of the dwarf gene produced tiny offspring called "peanuts" which sometimes would be born living. They NEVER survived, it was considered crewel to even try as they would starve to death. As a new person I did try, but quickly did what other experienced folks did & euthanized the poor things. It broke my heart, & I got out of working with the breed.

Which is also why I have no interest in producing a Pearl lest history repeat itself.
