In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok something has really been pissing me off lately. which is the worlds largest snake. The anaconda or the reticulated python. people argue with me saying that the anaconda is the largest. I say no its not because the anaconda is heavier and the retic is longer. Just making sure im right that the retic is the largest.

Sulawesi Reticulated Python:longest
Green Anacondas:heaviest bodied.(also a boid tho)

So technically... the second largest python would be the burmese.

Wouldn't just say Sulawesi's I have a yellow head thats around 20 feet or so now, and they supposed to say around 16, Their are exceptions. Don't forget Sula's,mainlands, etc Retics in general (except dwarfs)

And I agree about retics being bigger! In the later years retics build girth heavier than any Anaconda's your average green anaconda isa orund 13-15 feet and aorund 150 pounds, your average retic is aournd 16 feet and 120 pounds, in the later years of life on both species condas 17 feet 200-225 lbs retics 20-25 feet 200-300 lbs some retics heavier.

So in title of the largest in order
Retics 20-25 feet (200-300)
Condas 15-17 feet (200-250)
Burms 15-17 feet (150-225)
rocks 15-17 feet (150-225)
Scrub's 12-16 feet (50 100)

Again exceptions in each species.

See, this is kind of an ongoing joke among biologists, because it makes us chuckle when people use unclear descriptive words like "largest." Well, what does largest mean? Heaviest, longest, biggest girth? Everybody has different definitions.

Jeremy, where did you get your info from? I've heard for years that the reticulated python is the world's longest snake, but that the green anaconda is the world's heaviest. Also, are those wild-caught snake averages? Reticulated pythons are much more common in the pet trade, but captive animals are free from diseases and parasites that can stunt growth, so it's not a fair comparison with wild animals.

I totally agree that Retics are by far the longest!Condas are to me at least are kinda like boa form (since thats what anaconda stands for water boa) of a burmese well excuse the fact that the conda has the head the size of a softball!

But yeah retics in my opinion are the longest and in the long run the heaviest.

there was a reticulated python found in indonesia that was 49 feet long and 900lbs look it up on youtube

I'm pretty sure that rocks are higher on the list than burms - at least in terms of recorded length (though I suppose that the records, as they exist, are somewhat questioned at this point).

I do have to admit that I don't know the record for burms offhand

the "49 foot 900 pound snake" was a scam the Jackass Crew measured the snake at 23 feet and aorund 200 lbs still HUGEEEEEE but far from that size.

I never belived the 49 foot snake but on animal planet the worlds largest snakes is a retic and it said that it touched just under 50 feet??

Lol. No. Animal planet lies threw there teeth for ratings. So far, I believe the biggest retic caught is 29ft and aprox 200lb. While the anacondas record is 27 ft. And I believe 400-500 lbs.

there have been multiple rewards offered for any snakes over 30ft and those rewards have yet to be claimed.

According to the posters on this link:

"To earn the Wildlife Conservation Society's $50,000 reward, the snake must be at least 30 feet long. And it must be delivered alive and in good health, accompanied by all necessary permits and paperwork, to the Bronx Zoo in New York City."

"The reward was first offered in the early 1900s by President Theodore Roosevelt, a close friend of William T. Hornaday, the Bronx Zoo's director at the time. And the money--initially $1,000, then $10,000, and now $50,000--is still unclaimed. "

"The Smithsonian had a reward out in the 50's for $5000 for a living snake 30'+. "

"The biggest snakes used to be Baby the Burm kept by Lou Daddono at Serpent Safari, but she died a year ago at 24ft and 400lbs. Samantha the Retic at the Bronx Zoo died at 25-26ft. Bob Clark's Fluffy is at ~26ft and was on the National Geographic show and is currently living with Bob in Oklahoma."

I think Fluffy is now a resident of the Columbus Zoo in Ohio.

I thought that I had read that "Twinkie" the albino retic from Prehistoric Pets was the current record holder with another retic in Asia awaiting verification and import to Prehistoric, but I may be mistaken.
