    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

like neatochicken (post b4) im running out of space for my leos. i want to move them into a room in my basement as a result. it seems perfect, it has a sink, exhaust fan (the kind that r in bathrooms), like 8 electrical outlets,and a comp all set up, but it gets very cold down there, like 50's. im worried that would b too cold even w/ heating in the enclosures or rack system, what do u guys think? thanks

It very well may but when I first wired my 11" heat tape and did a test plug in to make sure it all heated up and was working it went to 110 in a 72 degree room without the thermostat, I was just curios of how hot it would get. I think on the hot side you could be ok, but the cool side may get too cool.

You could always use heat tape on both sides and set one thermostat in the 70's for the cool side and one on 90 for the hot but that would mean a lot more money spent on getting it all set up.

You can always get one of those portable oil filled heaters for the room. They work great if the room is not too big. I have one in my herp room (14'x12') and it keeps that rooms temps right where I want them. They run between $40 and $100. I paid $90 for mine at Wal-Mart or Lowes, I do not remember which.

What Type/size tanks are you using? If the tanks aren't too big, by keeping one side at 90, some of that heat will travel to the other side and warm it up, I think the only way to tell for sure is to test it out for a few days to see how well the temps stay steady. Check the temps at different times of the day to make sure they don't fluctuate that much.
