In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Worse nightmare...

heat tape is only truly safe when it cycles on and off and never reaches a temp high enough to melt things. The only way to accomplish this is to have a room with an ambient semi close to desired final temp.

example: desired temp of tub to be 80. Room temp 70.

initial heat cycle: heat tape runs 10 minutes straight to raise tub temp to 80 degrees. Then cycles off. Tapes turns on and off a few minutes per hour to cycle from 78 to 81 degrees trying to maintain 80 degrees.

The trick is selecting the proper sized heat tape for your tub size so it heats the tub fast enough.

i personally like running multiple strips of 3" spaced 2" apart rather than running a single piece of 11" (less wattage used)

How warm do you heat your room? Right now that's what I'm doing...but it's not must fun to be in there.

I'm thinking of getting a router and switching over to heat cable, the zoo med stuff doesn't seem to be able to get hot enough to go through a melt down the way the flexwat is.
