In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

When did the post office stop staying open late on tax day?
They closed at 3pm today! I went to 2 different town ones and both of them were closed as well!
I had planned on mailing it after work (since they used to be open until midnight) because I owe a small fortune to the state.
WTH!
I ended up having to do it electronically thru Turbo Tax and instead of sending a check, had to pay immediately so it wouldn't be late.

I would imagine some bean counter discovered how much money the government would make in fines and interest from late returns if they closed the post offices down early on the 15th. Especially by not notifying anyone one in advance about it. I also now send my taxes in via SIGNATURE REQUIRED service, after one year a while back it was discovered that the IRS was discarding boxes of returns rather than have to process them all.

No doubt. How else will Obamanomics succeed?

I love turbotax... I filed my personaly and business taxes for 75 bucks...... not to mention my returns were direct deposited a week later......

You can download quick books right into the program... and turbotax guides you through the deductions..... They suggested deductions I had no clue about..... I ended up getting almost everything back......!!:thumbsup:

Well the state wasted no time taking the money out of my checking account since I used my Visa debit card to make the payment.
My direct deposit went thru after they took the money and I am now negative in the checking account. They withdrew the funds right away and my deposit went thru after midnight. This is the reason why I wanted to send a check. I was afraid this would happen.
They take forever to refund you but they snatch the money you owe them immediately!

I am really tired of state income taxes. You don't get to deduct anything like the federal one does so I end up owing a ton every year. And if you do happen to get a refund, they add that as income to your next years return.

Gotta love how some people pay no taxes and others (like me) pay federal, state, sales tax, property taxes on the house, property tax on the cars.......

It doesn't look like this was any sort of nationwide policy...

Of course it wasn't. It's always been up to the individual P.O. branches whether they stay open late on tax day or not. I would guess that many opt not to stay open late since the majority of people electronically file now, rather than file a paper return.

Steve, come join us down here in Texas. We pay no state income tax, it's great! :D

You would think that this state would realize no one can afford to stay here and stop raising taxes because all the companies are leaving.

I pay $5K in property taxes on the house, $1K on the cars, state sales tax, state income tax, emissions testing fees, registration fees, license fees, and at the end of the year, STILL need to pay more in state income taxes.
Nothing can be deducted like with the federal return.
This state is out of control. We also have the highest electric rates in the country. What happens to the lottery money it takes in? What happens to the money the casinos pay in? Ridiculous.

I need to move to Florida. No car property taxes, no state income taxes and I wouldn't be surprised if house taxes were a lot lower.
