• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Yasser Spitfire Reptiles

Yasser,

In no way was this posted to be as you say an attempt at character assassination. Since I became aware of you and your business through this thread and the many good recommendations of how you conduct business. All stating how communicative you are, helpful, responsive etc. all positive comments that I checked out your website and first contacted you on Oct 8.

The reason for posting this was when I had not heard back from you after sending payment for 2 full days and I had cause for concern regarding this transaction so I came to the source where I found you looking for reassurance I had not made a mistake. That is all. While you may think me pushy and disrespectful. Those are your opinions and you are entitled to them. But now who is calling who a bad guy. I still have not made any derogatory references to your, your reputation nor your business. If you can't understand my concerns over a payment not acknowledged for what finally amounted to 3 days then I guess $200.00 means less to you than it does to me.

"To the seller: It only takes a few seconds to hit reply when you receive a payment. You could thank them for payment and say that you will get back to them in a few days with shipping info when you have more time."

They gave me good advice this above would be good advice for you to consider. I realize your time with work, family and the animals in your care is valuable to you. But would it have taken that much time from your schedule to follow the above advice and at least acknowledge the payment. I asked you early on in our transaction if there were issues I should be aware of. When you replied it would have been a simple matter to state. Due to how busy I am right now with work, family preparing for a show etc. etc.

You weren't the only one with bad feelings about this from the getgo. I'm entitled to my feelings also.

Best of luck to you in all your endeavors.

Big T

I'm curious, "Big T"....will you berate the staff of a restaurant if the service is a little slower than the last two restaurants you'd eaten in?

Yes, Yasser apparently has different priorities than your previous sellers. Maybe "time management" is not one of his top skills. But that certainly does not make him a "bad guy".

Everyone has different tolerance levels for this sort of thing, of course. You've made yours perfectly clear. And I hope sellers are as on top of this thread as potential buyers are. I've no doupbt that you're a good customer when it comes to prompt payment and communication...but any seller with a slightly more laid back attitude on timing might want a heads up.

Dave... I can say this... if you email me at the wrong time of the day... your waiting 10 hours for a response. It's not because I'm ignoring you or not up on my customer service. It's because I work a full time job with no access to my business email... and not only that. I dont always work regular hours. So even though you may be off work... doesn't mean the rest of us are. Just something to think about.

Dave... I see that I somehow missed the 3 day timeframe on no response.... but keep in mind.. .some of us do work odd hours at times.

Just because someone has a decent website and a few nice animals doesnt mean they are "good guys" Yasser does not work 24hours a day 3 days straight. I think 3 days with no response after sending payment is unacceptable. I had attempted a dealing similar with Yasser and glad it never happened. I personally dont care for him one bit and would never send $$$ his way even though he has never burned me, and I have never bought from him, and I never will. A nice website and all this talk about breeding for 18 years. lol There are those of us who know better. Be glad he still had your $$$ and was able to refund your it in a timely manner.

Yasser's response time left something to be desired, however, the OP waited 2 days for each of the first 2 responses (prior to payment), then he fires off an e-mail with a detectable attitude after waiting less than a day for Yasser to confirm payment. Dave, don't you think your initial contact should have been an indicator as to his response time? It's not like he responded immediately, and then ignored you after you paid him.

As for shipping, it's expensive, and when you see me selling something, there's a few bucks added into the cost of the animal so that I can charge a lower flat fee. That's what many sellers do....others price their animals slightly lower, and charge exact (or almost exact) shipping fees.

Paypal fees? I don't charge them, nor would I. I'm not fond of the practice....sellers are paying the fee for the convenience. If I don't want to pay the fee, again, I'll price the animal a few bucks higher, or accept M.O. only.

Having said that, I respect Yasser, and would still deal with him in a heartbeat. While I may not agree with all of his practices, he was fully up front, and a full refund was promptly received as soon as he saw the transaction start to sour. While there are others out there that "balance" work, family, and reptiles, there are many who would prefer to let this remain a hobby, within which transactions can be made in a more leisurely fashion. I'm fairly prompt, but I have declined sales in the past where I perceived the buyer as being pushy (as I'm sure Yasser did).

Now that all is pretty much said and done regarding this transaction I would like to post some final comments. Mostly about lessons learned.

1.If you have any doubts going into a transaction, no matter how badly you want the item, how pretty, how rare, listen to your gut because it will probably go south on you and cause everyone involved nothing but grief.
2.Regardless of how well you word anything posted on the BOI there will be some who don't read the whole thread and will jump to conclusions.
3.Regardless of not having any ill intent the party the thread is about will most likely find it offensive and react accordingly.
4.That I am not totally innocent of any transgressions in this matter and that I may have come across as pushy even if that was not my intent.

I thank all who responded.

Now it's time to man up.

To Mr. Yasser Moustafa,

I want to offer my sincerest apologies. I in no way was trying to harm your reputation. In looking back at my emails I can see how it may appear I was pushy and yes even could be construed as disrespectful. I meant you no disrespect and am sorry for any hurt I may have caused you.

Sincerely,

David “Big Tattoo” Johnston
