    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

yellow anaconda???

I just looked at the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife website. According to the section Exotic and Nongame Species Requiring a Permit for Possession, all members of family Boidae (other than Boa constrictor) require a permit. How weird is that?? A BCI or BCC that will reach 8ft+ does not require a permit, but an ATB or BRB (or yellow anaconda, for that matter) does?? I would call and check with them, as that list seems pretty broad...and I know of several people with pythons in NJ (all members of family Pythonidae are on the list)

I did a little more looking on the site - a hobbiest permit is available for an annual fee of $10/year. Interestingly, per the application, it requires a copy of the 20 day temporary permit receipt (pink slip...which, I would guess, is to be provided by the place of purchase) and the info for the source of acquisition. So, it would seem that you have to purchase the animal before you can get a permit.(??) Also, you can add animals when you get the renewal form each year (or pay a nominal fee to have them added when acquired). I still don't get the exemption of Boa constrictor, but at least the system seems pretty workable. Here is the link to the permit application: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/xotic_hobby.pdf

thanks for the replies, i know about the boa exemptions, but i put them on my permit anyway, just wasn't sure about anacondas(yellow).

Since family Boidae is allowed with a permit, and there was nothing specifically disallowing E notaeus, my guess is you would be all clear.
And not all yellows are bite happy, lol. 3 of my 4 breeders are as calm as any other boa or python you'll encounter.

i just picked him up today very mellow, but very healthy.

I so envy you Ted. My female is not afraid to bite at all. She is quite mellow untill you reach in to take her out. Then the "machine gun effect" comes into play with the multiple bites. She is around 45 inches now so no real big deal but I hope she tames down before getting huge.

maybe the fear to bite a human will disappear, but he he is about 5 months old and 2+ feet long. so maybe i think i'm lucky but things might change.

Believe me - they aren't afraid to bite us, lol. They bite because they are afraid, or because they just don't like us. However, you did just bring him home...the stress of transport can throw them off a bit. Reserve judgement for a week or two.
